| The road from Toa Kham boat dock to Dap Da bridge is nearing completion. |
In recent days, locals and tourists have been delighted that the pedestrian and bicycle path along the Perfume River, from Toa Kham boat dock to the foot of Dap Da Bridge, has been largely completed, with only a few final minor items remaining.
After more than 9 months of implementation, the completed pedestrian walkway not only creates a highlight for residents and tourists but also contributes significantly to the beautification of the urban environment along the Perfume River, creating an ecological landscape in the area. This pedestrian walkway will connect with the Nhu Y riverside pedestrian walkway project, from Dap Da to Van Duong Bridge, approximately 1.6km long and 6m wide, which has already been completed; with the aim of connecting pedestrian walkways along the Perfume River to serve the needs of residents and tourists for walking and cycling, creating a continuous connection on the two river routes in the city center.
In 2024, Hue implemented the project to expand the tourist parking lot at Toa Kham boat dock with a total investment of nearly 1.2 billion VND. The project included items such as expanding the Toa Kham parking lot to an area of 1,200m2, combined with planting trees, grass, painting road markings, installing traffic signs, and installing floodlights in the parking area.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuan, a resident living near the area, said that for many years, along the Perfume River and its tributaries, numerous urban beautification and transportation infrastructure projects have been invested in, built, and upgraded, contributing to changing not only the face of the city center but also the surrounding wards and communes. Residents are pleased that these projects are implemented quickly, completed on schedule, and put into use and operation early, ensuring investment efficiency.
The pedestrian and bicycle path project along the Perfume River, from Toa Kham boat dock to the foot of Dap Da Bridge, commenced in January 2025 with a total investment of over 35 billion VND, and is managed by the Hue City Parks and Greenery Center. The project spans approximately 460 meters in length and is 6 meters wide, designed to combine pedestrian walkways, bicycle paths, and other features, adding a distinctive touch to the area along both banks of the Perfume River.
According to our reporter's observations, the road is currently largely completed with the paving of natural stone slabs, creating a flat, clean, and durable surface. The seating area features galvanized steel box frames and seats made of treated lim wood. The route also includes galvanized steel pipe railings, flowerbeds clad in lim wood, and a water supply and lighting system currently under construction, ensuring safety and creating an aesthetic effect at night.
Mr. Le Nhu Chinh, Director of the Hue Green Park Center, said that the project's progress is ahead of schedule. The construction is now over 90% complete, specifically the structural work, paving, and railing installation; the lighting system is over 90% complete and is currently undergoing effect testing; and the flowerbeds along the Perfume River are over 50% complete. Currently, the investor is urging the contractor to complete the remaining items as soon as possible, bringing the project into operation to contribute to urban beautification, create an ecological landscape, and establish a tourist attraction along the Perfume River. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2025.
