Numerous scientific evidence

A 2022 study published in the research journal Frontiers in Nutrition analyzed the association between caffeine consumption and the risk of kidney stones in over 30,000 participants with a history of kidney stones.

The results showed that caffeine consumption helps reduce the risk of developing kidney stones, especially in women.

In particular, coffee has been found to reduce the risk of kidney stones more effectively than other caffeinated foods and beverages.

A previous study from 2014 published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition also yielded similar results: Caffeine consumption helps reduce the risk of kidney stones.

The research team analyzed data from three different experiments.

In the first study, the Harvard Health Professionals Follow-Up Study (HPFS), conducted by Harvard University (USA) and involving over 51,000 male healthcare professionals aged 40 to 75, the results showed that those who consumed more caffeine had a 26% reduced risk of developing kidney stones.

Consuming more caffeine can reduce the risk of developing kidney stones by up to 31%.

In the second study, the National Institutes of Health Nurses Study I, which included more than 121,000 female nurses aged 30-55, results showed that those who consumed more caffeine had a 29% increased risk of kidney stones.

And in a subsequent study called the National Institutes of Health Nurses Study II, which included 116,429 female nurses aged 25-42, results showed that consuming more caffeine reduced the risk of developing kidney stones by up to 31%, according to Health Digest.

Researchers believe that caffeine is the main factor contributing to this effect.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), you shouldn't consume more than 400 milligrams of caffeine per day – equivalent to about 4 cups of coffee. This means it's best to drink 2-3 cups of coffee per day.
