For citizens, integrating medical examination and treatment information and health insurance cards into the VNeID application is convenient during the medical examination and treatment process and helps people track their personal health history fully and accurately. The electronic health record on VNeID is equivalent to a paper record and can be used as a replacement when people go for medical examination and treatment at public and private medical facilities, including outpatient, inpatient, and telemedicine consultations. This is an important step in digital transformation in the healthcare sector, helping to save costs and improve the efficiency of health management.
Recently, the Provincial People's Committee launched a campaign to review, clean up, and build data; issue identity cards and electronic identification accounts for individuals and organizations; and create electronic health records on the VNeID application. The campaign will run for 85 days, from June 20th to September 15th. According to the Director of the Department of Health, Tran Quang Hien, the successful implementation of electronic health records on the VNeID application contributes to the effective implementation of Government Decree 06, creating an important foundation for managing people's health, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, and promoting digital transformation in the health sector. Entrusted by the Provincial People's Committee to lead this campaign, the health sector is focusing on this key task, determined to have 90% of citizens with health insurance cards integrated and using electronic health records on VNeID by September 15th.
In response to the campaign, communes, wards, and special zones throughout the province mobilized the entire political system, determined to bring digital conveniences closer to the people. Communication about the benefits of digital health insurance on VNeID was widely implemented in residential areas. With a systematic and scientific approach, along with the high sense of responsibility of medical staff and community digital technology teams, localities are gradually creating positive changes in people's awareness and actions regarding digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
The majority of people agree with and support the implementation and evaluation of the use of the e-health card on VNeID, noting that it not only helps people manage their personal health effectively but also contributes to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, especially bringing many benefits to people in remote areas. Mr. Nguyen Van Bau, a resident of Thanh Yen commune who regularly visits the health station for check-ups, said that since local officials helped integrate his health insurance card into the VNeID application, his medical examinations have become much faster and more convenient. When he arrives for a check-up, medical staff only need to enter or scan his citizen ID card code into the software to display his entire medical history. “Before, I couldn’t remember everything about what medicine I took after the examination and how my condition progressed. Now, with this e-health card, my medical history is saved on the computer, and I can easily review what medicine the doctor prescribed,” Mr. Bau said.
Local health stations have assigned personnel to assist people in integrating their health insurance cards, verifying information, and using the e-health card on the VNeID application; this is combined with direct guidance for people during their visits and treatments at health facilities. According to Ms. Thi My Duyen, Deputy Director of Dinh Hoa Commune Health Station, the station coordinates with agencies, organizations, and the police force to go to each household to disseminate information, encourage, and guide people in integrating their health insurance cards into the VNeID application and using the e-health card. Thanks to direct guidance, people clearly see the benefits of the e-health card and therefore agree to use it.
