Specifically, on June 12, 2026, the French Ministry of Health announced the voluntary recall of Allernova AR infant formula, batch number 183403, manufactured by Laboratoires Novalac.
According to information from the French side, the recall decision was made after the Anses nutrition monitoring system recorded 11 reports of gastrointestinal side effects in infants using products from this batch, including symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. In addition, the SignalConso consumer feedback system also received one more report related to the same production batch.
Among the reported cases, one infant required hospitalization. Tests revealed the presence of Adenovirus in the infant's stool sample – a common cause of gastroenteritis. French authorities stated that there was no evidence to suggest the virus was transmitted through breast milk, and affirmed that the incident was unrelated to recent international warnings about cereulide toxins in infant formula.
Following this information, in order to ensure the health and safety of consumers, the Food Safety Department has issued a document requesting the Departments of Health , Food Safety Departments, and Food Safety Sub-departments of provinces and cities to urgently review the registration of declarations or self-declarations for Allernova AR infant formula produced by Laboratoires Novalac.
The agency also requested relevant units to work with businesses that have announced the products (if any), instructing them to notify distribution systems and consumers to stop using the products under warning, and to implement recalls as recommended by the manufacturer. Relevant businesses must report the quantity of products imported, sold on the market, remaining in inventory, and propose solutions for the affected batches.

The Ministry of Health has requested a review, recall, and cessation of distribution of Allernova AR infant formula.
In addition, local authorities are required to intensify public awareness campaigns to ensure consumers understand the warning information and stop using the recalled product batches. The results of the handling process must be reported to the Food Safety Department before June 20, 2026.
On the same day, the Food Safety Department also sent a document to the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) requesting cooperation in controlling business activities of products in the online environment.
Accordingly, e-commerce platforms, online sales websites, and online stores are required to coordinate with store owners and distributors to review and cease selling any batches of milk subject to recall if they are currently circulating in Vietnam; and to remove any advertising or product descriptions that do not meet quality standards and take appropriate legal action.
This move aims to prevent the risk of products with warnings continuing to circulate in the market, especially in the context of the increasing popularity of buying and selling food, milk, and nutritional products through e-commerce platforms.
