Attracting tourists to Cam Pha

To facilitate the flow of tourists to the mining city, Cam Pha has been implementing a comprehensive set of solutions to stimulate tourism, attract visitors to historical sites and landmarks, develop coastal and island tourism, and create a civilized and friendly tourism business environment.

With strong determination and a driving force for socio-economic development, Cam Pha City is stepping up tourism promotion and marketing activities, leveraging the city's potential and advantages not only as a strong industrial and service hub but also as a tourist destination.

In recent years, Cam Pha City has made breakthroughs in tourism development. Particularly in 2024, the city welcomed 1.3 million visitors, a 20.3% increase compared to 2023; generating nearly 800 billion VND in revenue, an 11.6% increase compared to 2023. Especially in the first five months of 2025, Cam Pha City welcomed approximately 815,000 tourists, an 8% increase compared to the same period in 2024; revenue reached nearly 480 billion VND, an 11% increase compared to the same period in 2024, exceeding the planned target by 47 billion VND.

The above results show that Cam Pha City has established directions for tourism development, including strengthening the management of tourism accommodation businesses, guiding tourism service businesses, and coordinating with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.   New assessments were conducted on one hotel to determine its eligibility to operate as a 3-star hotel and one hotel as a 2-star hotel.   The city also coordinated.   Assessing the operating conditions of 3 beaches   Directing organizations and individuals to strictly comply with regulations on statistical reporting in tourism service business activities.

Cam Pha City is also developing a pilot project for a night-time economic development model, constructing a pedestrian street in the Green Dragon project area in Cam Trung, Cam Thanh, and Cam Binh wards. Simultaneously, Cam Pha City has coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ha Long Cruises Tourism and Trade Joint Stock Company, and brought in TUI Museum Group (which manages and operates major cruise lines such as Meinchift Cruises, Alida Cruises, and MSC Cruises) and related units to conduct surveys of local tourist destinations and products. This aims to connect and create tourist routes and tours between districts and towns in the province and Cam Pha City, and to enhance the efficiency of exploiting the high-end Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh hot spring resort.

The implementation of legal documents on tourism has been carried out effectively. More cultural and tourism events have been organized thanks to the successful collaboration with Multi-Style Media Joint Stock Company in organizing the final round of the Miss Tourism Vietnam 2024 competition. The final round promoted and spread the beauty of the culture and people of Cam Pha City in particular and Quang Ninh province in general to the community; introduced the potential of the locality, attracted tourists, and stimulated tourism in the mining city.

Recently, the city coordinated the organization of the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Mining Region on April 25th (1955-2025), attracting over 10,000 tourists and local people. The aim was to widely promote the historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions of the nation in general and Quang Ninh province in particular, as well as the distinctive values, culture, and people of Cam Pha with their tradition of "Discipline and Unity." At the same time, it was an opportunity to introduce scenic spots, historical and cultural relics, tourist destinations, and unique types of tourism to promote investment and trade in tourism services, social and charitable activities, community communication, and economic exchange events. This will stimulate domestic tourism and expand international investment, attracting the attention of tourists worldwide to Vietnam.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuong, Deputy Head of the Culture, Science and Information Department of Cam Pha City, said: Currently, the city is coordinating the organization of the Art For Climate Festival HaLong 2025 in Quang Ninh; and is cooperating with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to welcome the event organizers to conduct a survey in the area. Other cultural, artistic, sports and entertainment events will also be organized more frequently in Cam Pha City, not only contributing to promoting the destination and spreading the image of the land and people of Cam Pha, but also stimulating tourism and developing the non-polluting industry in this rich, beautiful and heroic mining city.
