Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, 60, announced his engagement to his girlfriend Jodie Haydon after four years of dating.
"She accepted my proposal," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese posted on social media today, along with a red heart emoji and a selfie with his girlfriend.
The photo appears to have been taken on Valentine's Day, February 14th. Haydon is wearing an emerald green outfit and has his hand on Albanese's chest, his ring finger adorned with an engagement ring. The Australian Prime Minister is wearing a light blue shirt and has a radiant expression on his face.
Mr Albanese is the first Australian Prime Minister to get engaged while in office.

ABC television reported that Albanese met his girlfriend Haydon at a dinner in Melbourne in 2020. Haydon has accompanied Albanese on several trips, including a visit to the United States in October 2023.
"Love is a beautiful thing. I'm so happy for you both!" said Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong. Australian politicians and renowned British chef Nigella Lawson also quickly sent their congratulations.
Some critics of the Australian Prime Minister argue that his engagement announcement is an attempt to divert public attention from more pressing issues, including the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Albanese joined the Labor Party while still in high school, and later became deeply involved in student politics at the University of Sydney. He was sworn in as prime minister in May 2022.
During his childhood, he lived with his single mother, Maryanne Ellery, in public housing in Sydney. In his first speech after being elected to Parliament in 1996, he thanked his mother for raising him in difficult circumstances.
