According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in the Russian Federation, at 3 PM on June 16 (local time), Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived at Gabdulla Tukay International Airport in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, to begin their participation in the Summit commemorating the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation.
Welcoming Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Kazan International Airport was the Head of State of Tatarstan, Rustam Minikhanov.
On the Vietnamese side were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi; Consul General of Vietnam in Ekaterinburg Nguyen Mai Huong and several embassy staff members.
This is Prime Minister Le Minh Hung's first official visit to the Russian Federation in his new capacity, demonstrating Vietnam's appreciation for the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership. The visit contributes to strengthening Vietnam's role as a "bridge," creating new momentum for ASEAN-Russia relations.
The ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership was established in 1991 and upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in 2018. Since then, ASEAN-Russia relations have continued to develop positively in all aspects.
The ASEAN-Russia Summit commemorating the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations is of great significance in promoting the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership, strengthening political commitments, renewing the momentum of cooperation, and defining the strategic direction for ASEAN-Russia relations in the coming period across all three main pillars: political-security, economic, and socio-cultural.
The conference demonstrated the highest level of political commitment from both sides to the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership, showing Russia's appreciation for ASEAN's central role in the Asia-Pacific regional cooperation structure, as well as ASEAN's appreciation for Russia's role and position in the region and the world.
At the same time, the Conference is a symbolic testament to the fact that dialogue and cooperation are always the most effective ways to contribute to creating a peaceful, secure, and stable environment for development.

As an important "bridge" between Russia and ASEAN, Vietnam has always been one of the most active countries supporting Russia in expanding its cooperative relations with ASEAN. Vietnam has put forward many initiatives and proposals to promote relations between Russia and ASEAN, and supported Russia's more active participation in ASEAN institutions.
Vietnam will work with other countries to promote a substantive, balanced, and results-oriented approach to ASEAN-Russia cooperation. The focus will be on unlocking potential areas that are not yet fully exploited, such as trade, science, technology, digital transformation, non-traditional security, education, training, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and especially energy. Furthermore, Vietnam also hopes to contribute to expanding the scope of cooperation between ASEAN and the Eurasian region.
On the occasion of attending the Conference, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and work with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minikhanov. This will be an important opportunity to convey the message of the new Government regarding the continued importance and promotion of Vietnam-Russia relations; and to exchange views on major breakthrough directions, key areas of cooperation, and measures to resolve obstacles in order to effectively implement the high-level agreements reached.
