In 2025, the People's Committee of Hoi An city will organize the Spring Flower Festival at Trang Keo Lake (Cam Ha commune), focusing on several streets such as Ton Duc Thang, Trang Keo, and lake shores 1 and 2.

From the 20th day of the 12th lunar month, hundreds of vendors selling ornamental flowers for Tet (Lunar New Year) have brought various types of flowers to display and sell in this area. This year, the prices of ornamental flowers have not increased compared to 2023; for example, a pot of crystal chrysanthemums costs around 700,000 VND, azaleas around 450,000 VND/pair, "heavenly blessing" flowers at 1.5 million VND/pot, and green apricot blossoms at around 1-2.6 million VND/pot...

Although the flower stalls were quite spacious, the roads were clear, and the scenery was quite beautiful, the number of customers buying flowers was very small. Many vendors took advantage of the opportunity to nap in their tents after a long night of staying up late.

Mr. Pham Nghia (Son Pho 1 residential area, Cam Chau ward) sells crystal chrysanthemums on Ton Duc Thang street with a sad expression on his face.

He said that a few years ago, he and many other vendors sold flowers on Tran Hung Dao and Nguyen Hue streets in the city, and the number of visitors and flower buyers was quite large. In less than a week, he sold more than 300 pots of chrysanthemums.

This year, Hoi An decided to bring the Spring Flower Festival to Trang Keo. Mr. Nghia transported over 100 pots of chrysanthemums to sell there, each pot priced at 600,000 - 700,000 VND, but the number of customers buying flowers is sparse. Currently, he has only sold 3 pots.

"Selling ornamental plants on the streets in the city center is twice as busy as up here, because locals going to the market and tourists visiting during the Lunar New Year can stop by to admire and conveniently buy flowers to take home to decorate for Tet."

"Besides that, the cost of transporting ornamental plants to customers' homes is only about 80,000 VND per trip, but here the price is double because of the long distance. I hope that in the days leading up to Tet, more customers will come to buy flowers, otherwise, at this rate, I'll easily lose money," Nghia shared.

A seller of blue apricot blossoms on the shores of Trang Keo 1 lake said: "The city is organizing a Spring Flower Fair in the Trang Keo area, so many locals and tourists are not yet familiar with it, which is why our flower business is facing difficulties. At this time, I have only sold a few pots of blue apricot blossoms, and I don't know whether the number of customers will increase or decrease in the coming days."

If the city had informed the communes, wards, and flower and ornamental plant businesses earlier about the changes to the organization of the 2025 Year of the Snake Spring Flower Festival, it would have been more convenient. That way, we could reduce the number of flowers and ornamental plants we order from nurseries, minimizing the risk of unsold stock.”

According to many flower vendors in Hoi An, the number of customers buying flowers has decreased by 30% compared to this time in 2024. Along with the worry of fewer customers, they also fear rain, as weather forecasts predict a drop in temperature in Quang Nam in the coming days, with even light rain in some areas. If the sun is weak and it rains, the flowers will bloom slowly and may even be damaged considerably.

It is known that the People's Committee of Hoi An City is organizing the Spring Flower Festival 2025 in the Trang Keo area - Cam Ha commune with a total area of ​​approximately 6,000 - 8,000 ^m2 . This event will take place from December 19th to December 29th of the lunar calendar.

Flower and ornamental plant businesses will randomly select a maximum of one plot with an area of ​​approximately 16-18m²/plot; OCOP entities and entities with typical rural industrial products, craft village products, and ornamental plants should contact city departments for support in participating in the exhibition.

The city government will not charge any fees to all households participating in the 2025 Year of the Snake Spring Flower Festival. Relevant departments and localities will focus on providing support in terms of electricity, water, sanitation, etc., to ensure the best possible conditions for participating businesses.
