Promoting the innovative startup ecosystem.

NDO - After 9 years of organization, Techfest Vietnam has become an important event, attracting the attention of policymakers, managers, corporations, businesses, organizations supporting innovative startups, domestic and international investment funds… and thereby connecting domestic and international resources for Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the global innovative startup map.

On November 21st, the Ministry of Science and Technology, in coordination with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City, held a press conference to provide information about Techfest Vietnam 2024. This is an annual event chaired by the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with other ministries, sectors, localities, and socio-political organizations.

Techfest Vietnam 2024, with the spirit of "Joining hands to develop Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem," aims to introduce, inspire, and honor outstanding achievements of innovative startup activities in businesses and society as a whole; summarize and evaluate the 10-year journey of forming the innovative startup ecosystem and orient its development in the new phase; and create momentum for the economic and social development of Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular through innovative startup activities.

The event also promotes the ability to attract technology startups, technology human resources, investment funds, and domestic and international experts; introduces to the domestic and international creative startup community the dynamic, developing, and pioneering city of Hai Phong in promoting creative startups; and creates a friendly and favorable environment to promote and support the formation and development of businesses with the potential for rapid growth based on the exploitation of intellectual property, technology, and new business models.

The event was attended by Party and State leaders, representatives of leaders from ministries, departments, and localities; representatives of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and departments; representatives of diplomatic agencies and international organizations in Vietnam; representatives of leaders from corporations, general companies, research institutes, and universities; representatives of organizations within the creative startup ecosystem, investment funds, investors, and mentors; creative startup businesses; speakers, technology experts, and innovation experts from Vietnam and abroad...

The series of events will take place over 3 days (from November 26-28, 2024) in Hai Phong city with many activities including: the opening ceremony of Techfest 2024, the high-level policy dialogue forum, the exhibition of innovative startup products/services, a series of in-depth workshops on developing the innovative startup ecosystem, investment networking, the Vietnam Innovative Startup Talent Search competition...

According to Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem has developed strongly in recent years, creating a new generation of businesses that operate based on intellectual property and have the capacity to access the global market. In 2024, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem ranked 56th in the Startup Blink Global Startup Ecosystem Index, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City among the top 200 global startup cities.

From 2017 to the present, Vietnam's Global Innovation Index (GII) has continuously improved, rising from 59th place (in 2016) to 44th in 2024. Vietnam's 2024 GII results show that three of its indicators are world leaders, including, for the first time, the Creative Goods Export index.

Techfest Vietnam 2024 is an opportunity for agencies, organizations, and individuals to meet with high-ranking Vietnamese leaders, policymakers, and managers to learn about mechanisms, policies, and investment opportunities in Vietnam; to meet with Vietnamese and foreign businesses operating in Vietnam, and innovative startups in Vietnam to seek cooperation and investment opportunities; to connect and find resources and partners to implement initiatives to promote the innovative startup ecosystem domestically and internationally; and to introduce technologies, products, and services, and seek investment and business opportunities in Vietnam.
