Promoting cooperation in rice consumption.

At Vinacam Agricultural Cooperative in Hon Dat commune, the National Agricultural Extension Center, in collaboration with the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center and Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, organized a seminar connecting production and consumption of products under the Central Agricultural Extension Project on the topic of building a model for rice cultivation with reduced emissions, serving the sustainable development of the rice export raw material area of the Mekong Delta.

The project will be piloted at Vinacam Agricultural Cooperative during the 2024-2025 winter-spring and 2025 summer-autumn seasons, covering an area of 50 hectares. The entire rice crop will apply high-quality, low-emission farming practices in accordance with guidelines, and pesticide residue levels will meet standards for export to demanding markets such as Europe and Japan.

At the seminar, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center highly appreciated the support of partner units in the project, especially the consuming enterprises, including A An Foodstuff Joint Stock Company, which is committed to purchasing the entire rice output of Vinacam Agricultural Cooperative. This is a positive sign, demonstrating the strong link between farmers, cooperatives, and businesses. The presence of businesses guaranteeing rice purchase from the beginning of the season is a decisive factor, helping farmers feel secure in their production. At the same time, it encourages farmers to adhere to technical procedures to produce standard-compliant products. This linkage not only benefits businesses but also ensures stable income for farmers.

The delegates unanimously agreed on the need to further strengthen the linkage between the "four stakeholders" (State, farmers, businesses, and scientists ) to form a closed value chain in rice production and consumption. This is considered a key solution to help An Giang's rice industry develop stably, enhance competitiveness, and effectively adapt to market demands in the new era.

In the 2025-2026 winter-spring crop season, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center will expand the model to 1,280 hectares under the large-scale field project, applying the "1 must, 5 reductions" technique. The goal is to gradually replicate this throughout the province to apply high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation processes, contributing to the success of the Project to cultivate 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice, linked with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030 in An Giang .
