For many years, Dong Nai has also encouraged businesses to produce smarter products.
An inevitable trend
Smart manufacturing and digital transformation are solutions for developing modern industries and meeting the increasingly high standards of the global market. This is also the goal that Vietnam is aiming for, enabling businesses to gradually integrate into the global supply chain. In early October 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade decided to issue the Program to Support and Promote Smart Manufacturing and Digital Transformation in the Industrial and Commercial Sectors for the period up to 2035.
The overall objective of the program is to create breakthroughs in digital transformation activities, develop smart manufacturing, and contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises in the industry and trade sector. The Ministry strives to complete the development and implementation of a set of indicators for assessing digital transformation readiness and a framework for industrial digital transformation architecture and smart factory technology architecture by 2030. The goal is to gradually establish and disseminate a system of technical standards and regulations serving digital transformation and smart manufacturing activities, harmonizing with international standards and regulations.
According to experts, sustainable, lean, and smart production is an irreversible trend for businesses today.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Truyen, a senior expert at the International Labour Organization (ILO), stated: Sustainable production is a crucial factor that any business must consider if it wants to develop and integrate. Accordingly, businesses need to gradually optimize their production processes, redesigning them to simultaneously increase productivity and reduce environmental emissions and energy consumption. If this is achieved, input costs for businesses will be lower, creating a competitive advantage.
Mr. Bui Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development ( Ministry of Finance ), affirmed: Vietnam clearly recognizes that digital transformation and dual transformation are no longer an option but an urgent requirement for businesses to survive and develop. The State has also issued policies, most notably Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025, of the Politburo on the development of the private economy. This resolution outlines core tasks such as: promoting science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, and efficient and sustainable business practices.
Businesses adapt to keep up with development trends.
In Dong Nai province, for many years, the province has been selective in attracting investment projects to industrial zones. The province is also implementing solutions to encourage businesses to apply technology, increase productivity, improve product quality, and promote more sustainable production.
Dong Nai province is strongly encouraging businesses to invest in modern technology to improve productivity, product quality, reduce emissions, and promote sustainable development. The province is striving to significantly improve the investment environment, enhance its competitiveness index, and strengthen dialogue to promptly address difficulties faced by businesses.
According to Mr. Lu Chinh Minh, General Director of Electronic Tripod Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park), technological change to keep up with the rapid and strong development trends in the current period is and will be an inevitable trend. The company is gradually transforming its production technology and applying industrial automation. After investing in Dong Nai, Tripod has expanded its investment to Ba Ria - Vung Tau (now Ho Chi Minh City) with a project to manufacture circuit boards with a total capital of 260 million USD. Phase 1, with an investment of 60 million USD, is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, with further investment in Phase 2. This factory applies high technology, and more than 80% of the production processes are automated to meet the criteria for green production and low emissions. This is also one of the top priorities that Tripod's customers in other countries are demanding.
Not only large enterprises but also small and medium-sized enterprises and startups in the province are paying more attention to technology and smart manufacturing.
Mr. Le Xuan Thoi, Director of Astek Co., Ltd. (located in Trang Dai Ward, Dong Nai Province), stated: "With the development of digital technology, automated production lines are increasingly widely applied in manufacturing. This is the market that Astek Company is targeting. To meet the needs of our partners, Astek is supplying the market with products such as: automated packaging lines, raw material feeding systems, and machinery to minimize human labor as requested by customers."
Regarding the training institution, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Lam from Lac Hong University (located in Tran Bien ward) stated: The university currently collaborates with many businesses inside and outside the province to transfer technology and provide consulting on clean, environmentally friendly production solutions. The university is also ready to cooperate in organizing numerous workshops, forums, and extracurricular activities to raise community awareness about the importance of green industry…
