In the early hours of May 1st, Marcus Thuram scored a spectacular backheel goal in the first minute, giving Inter the lead at Barcelona's Lluis Companys stadium. The Catalan club is Lilian Thuram's former team, where he made 41 appearances between 2006 and 2008. Lilian was also in the stands to watch his son play in the match.

Scoring crucial goals in semi-finals seems to have become a tradition for the Thuram family. In the 1998 World Cup semi-final, Lilian Thuram scored in the 90th second of the second half in France's 2-1 victory over Croatia.
Besides Marcus, Lilian Thuram also has a son, Khephren Thuram, who plays for Juventus.
