South Korean and US marines have begun regular joint exercises in the coastal city of Pohang, 262 km southeast of Seoul.

The three-week exercise was conducted in Pohang with the participation of about 3 Korean and US marines, as part of the Korean Marine Corps and US Marine Corps Exercise Program.
The two sides will mobilize many military equipment and assets for the exercise, including amphibious assault vehicles, drones, K1A2 tanks, Marineon helicopters and US CH-53E helicopters. .
Over the past week, the two sides have held shooting and close combat training, and also plan to hold air attack exercises, using helicopters from both sides.
The Korean Marine Corps said the exercise focuses on improving integrated combat capabilities in a practical way, while building a solid alliance between the two sides.
US Marine Corps Major General Joshua Burchfield emphasized: "Continuing our alliance with the Korean Marine Navy is critical to regional security and stability."
