Commenting on the significance of the 5th anniversary, Mr. Le Xuan Lam, Chairman of the Forum, emphasized: “Over the past 5 years, the Forum has achieved remarkable successes, especially in building a network of professional activists and accumulating a wealth of data and experience in preserving the Vietnamese language abroad. On this anniversary, we would like to collaborate with the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France, a prominent institution and cultural space for the Vietnamese community in the heart of Europe, to organize a series of events.”
Notably, this year's event featured the first-ever thematic panel discussion on "Preserving the Vietnamese Language and Promoting Vietnamese Culture Abroad," with the participation of numerous representatives from Vietnam, Europe, and Asia. This is considered an important academic and practical forum for sharing experiences, effective models, and new initiatives in teaching and learning Vietnamese to young people born and raised abroad. Simultaneously, the panel discussion marks a significant step forward and sets more specific and practical goals for the Forum.
Within the framework of the program, the organizers introduced books, publications, paintings, and Vietnamese cultural products; organized exhibitions of Vietnamese language teaching and learning materials, books about Vietnam, handicrafts, and Vietnamese tea. This cultural space contributes to helping the Vietnamese community as well as international friends gain a deeper understanding of Vietnamese national identity.
One of the activities that attracted particular attention was the closing ceremony and awards presentation for the global creative writing competition “Vietnam – The Country I Love!”. Launched in early March 2026, the competition had a total prize value of nearly 3,000 euros for teenagers and young people under 35 living abroad, with a wide range of categories such as poetry, prose, paintings, photographs, videos , and multimedia presentations. Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, from the Budapest Vietnamese Language Center (Hungary), in charge of the competition, said: “The organizing committee encouraged participation from many people through individual competitions with four different age groups and a team competition. We expect the members of the Forum's Executive Board in 14 countries to be key figures in spreading the message so that the competition can have a strong impact on the community.”
As of June 8, 2026, the competition had received nearly 70 entries from individuals and groups aged 5 to 33 from Belgium, Poland, Taiwan (China), Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Japan, Austria, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, and many other countries. Among the entries, a notable one was the multimedia presentation "Vietnam Through the Eyes of Children" by authors Luu Hoang Kim Ngan (28 years old) and Luu Hoang Kim Anh (19 years old) from Hungary. The work showcased a series of projects to introduce the Vietnamese language into primary schools in Budapest, so that not only children of Vietnamese origin but also local children could access the Vietnamese language and culture.
Sharing their thoughts on the competition, contestants Kim Ngan and Kim Anh expressed: “We see this as a meaningful platform, giving Vietnamese people living abroad the opportunity to express their love for their homeland, their mother tongue, and Vietnamese identity. For the younger generation, it also serves as a reminder of their responsibility to preserve the Vietnamese language and spread Vietnamese culture within the community.”
