Thanh Loc Commune has a large number of young workers employed in the industrial zone, so the Commune Youth Union has implemented many activities aimed at young workers. From 2024 to the present, the Commune Youth Union has mobilized donations of over 1,000 gifts and essential goods for young workers in difficult circumstances; organized charitable transportation services to support workers returning home for the Lunar New Year; and promptly visited and supported those who suffered work accidents or were in particularly difficult circumstances…
According to Mr. Nguyen Bao Trong, Secretary of the Thanh Loc Commune Youth Union, one of the most impactful models is the "Civilized, Safe, and Price-Free Dormitory Area." Through connecting with landlords, this model contributes to creating a stable living environment, helping workers reduce living expenses and work with peace of mind. The Commune Youth Union also focuses on improving the spiritual life and equipping young workers with skills. The Youth Union organizes cultural, artistic, and sports activities in residential areas, dormitories, and production facilities, such as mini-football tournaments and cultural exchange nights like "Young Workers' Singing Nights," creating healthy recreational spaces to help workers relieve stress after long working hours and strengthening solidarity among young workers in the area.
For three years, Mr. Phan Van Ut and his wife, residents of Vinh Thuan commune, have been renting accommodation near their workplace at Thai Binh Kien Giang Joint Stock Company in Thanh Loc Industrial Park. “Every year, my wife and I receive gifts from the Youth Union, consisting of essential goods. Although not of great monetary value, they are very practical and help us reduce our living expenses. We also participate in cultural and artistic activities and meet other workers. I feel cared for and supported,” Mr. Ut said.
Mr. Nguyen Bao Trong stated: “Young workers are currently a crucial force in the locality. The Youth Union always focuses on building models that suit the actual needs of workers. In addition to providing material support, the Youth Union regularly collaborates with other units to organize programs providing advice on labor law, reproductive health, and personal financial management skills… helping young workers raise awareness and acquire the necessary knowledge to develop themselves and achieve long-term stability in their lives.”
Effective models at the grassroots level contribute to the creation of an increasingly widespread network of support for young workers throughout the province. The Provincial Youth Union directs its branches and associations to establish sub-branches, clubs, teams, and groups of young people in non-state enterprises and concentrated housing areas. This aims to help unite young workers, build a healthy living environment, and strengthen the bond between workers and the Youth Union and Associations.
In response to the 2026 Workers' Month, the Provincial Youth Union organized the " An Giang Province Young Workers' Festival" with the participation of over 300 union members, young people, and workers. The festival featured many meaningful activities such as cultural exchanges, entertainment programs for workers, and the presentation of 100 gifts to young workers facing difficult circumstances but striving to improve their lives and work. Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, stated: "Accompanying young workers is not only a task of the Youth Union during Workers' Month but also a regular and continuous effort. The Provincial Youth Union hopes that through these activities of care, support, and connection, young workers will have more motivation to strive and remain committed to their businesses and localities."
