In recent years, Kien Giang province has achieved many important results in urban planning, construction, management, and development. The urbanization rate (wards and towns) reached 30.07%; the urban population ratio (within and outside the city and new urban areas) reached 35.6%.
In 2023, the province detected 37 violations out of a total of 161 inspected constructions (accounting for 22.98%). District-level authorities issued 37 administrative penalty decisions totaling over 1 billion VND. However, 7 violations, amounting to 180 million VND, have yet to be enforced.
In 2024, Kien Giang province aims for an urbanization rate of 36.3%, an increase of 0.7% compared to 2023, including the procedures for recognizing new urban areas such as An Son, Lai Son, Nam Du, Long Thanh, Tac Cau... This is 2.8% lower than the planned target of 39.14%.
In the new year, Kien Giang will continue to strengthen and intensify inspection and strictly handle all violations of the law in general and violations of construction regulations in particular, resolutely implementing coercive measures against cases of violations that do not comply.
