According to tradition, every year on the 10th day of the 7th lunar month, the people of Nam Dieu block (Thanh Ha ward) solemnly hold a ceremony to commemorate and show gratitude to the ancestors who had the merit of opening the village, establishing the hamlet, establishing the profession, and creating the traditional Nam Dieu Thanh Ha pottery profession.
Thanh Ha pottery village was formed around the 16th-17th century by a number of craftsmen from Thanh Hoa and Nghe An who came to make a living, build a village and establish a pottery profession on a strip of land near the end of the lower Thu Bon River, now Nam Dieu block.
During its history of formation and development, Thanh Ha pottery mainly produced bricks and tiles for the construction of ancient architectural works in Hoi An and ceramics for daily life and religious purposes. Most of the products of the craft village were consumed in Quang Nam , Quang Tri, Quang Binh... and some other places.
With their talent and sophistication, the craftsmen and artisans of Nam Dieu Thanh Ha pottery village created ceramic products that were recorded by the Nguyen Dynasty in the book Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi (Quang Nam local products section).
The Nam Dieu pottery ancestral temple was built in the first half of the 19th century to serve the spiritual and cultural life of the residents of Nam Dieu Thanh Ha pottery village. Through many historical ups and downs and harsh natural conditions, the Nam Dieu ancestral temple still exists intact as an embodiment of the priceless historical and cultural relic value of many generations of pottery village workers.

The death anniversary of the pottery profession is a traditional cultural beauty of every person.
Nam Dieu residential area, bearing the strong imprint of Vietnamese national cultural identity, craft village culture, and communal village; is an opportunity for generations of villagers to remember their origins and show gratitude to their ancestors.
The festival is also an opportunity to promote the image of a craft village rich in cultural traditions to domestic and foreign tourists. For more than 20 years, Thanh Ha pottery village has become a favorite destination for tourists everywhere; in 2023 alone, the total number of visitors buying tickets to visit Thanh Ha pottery village reached more than 550,000 (revenue of more than 19.2 billion VND).
This year, in addition to the worshiping ceremony and the lion and dragon parade through the streets of the village, the Thanh Ha pottery ancestor’s death anniversary also featured entertainment activities such as pottery making competitions, pottery product displays, folk games, traditional boat racing, etc., attracting a large number of locals and tourists.
