The subsidy amount also varies depending on the electric vehicle manufacturer. The Tokyo government considers three factors when determining the subsidy amount: sales performance, product line size, and efforts toward green transition. Currently, the subsidy for manufacturers can reach up to 400,000 yen. Details of the system will be announced after approval at the end of June. Buyers will register online to receive the subsidy, rather than receiving the payment at the time of purchase.
