(DN) – According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Binh, Director of Thanh Cong Agricultural and Aquatic Service Cooperative in Phuoc An commune (Nhon Trach district), during the April 30 holiday, the cooperative supplied the market with 3-5 tons of shrimp per day, 2-3 times higher than the amount of shrimp sold on normal days.

The shrimp output supplied to the market increased due to the high demand for shrimp consumption in the locality and especially the supply to the Hanoi market compared to normal days. Specifically, on normal days, the amount of shrimp consumed locally is about 1.5 tons/day, on holidays and weekends it increases to 2.5 tons/day, the rest is supplied to the Hanoi market. At this time, the market demand mainly consumes large shrimp. The price of shrimp sold by farmers at the farm is 170 thousand VND/kg for 30 shrimp/kg, unchanged compared to normal days.

According to Mr. Binh, since the beginning of the year, shrimp prices have always been high, at times reaching 200-210 thousand VND/kg. The high selling price of shrimp is due to unusual weather fluctuations, many diseases appearing on farmed shrimp, causing a decrease in supply. With this selling price, shrimp farmers are making good profits.

Up to now, members of Thanh Cong Agricultural and Aquatic Services Cooperative have expanded shrimp farming area to more than 30 hectares, all applying high technology for intensive shrimp farming for good economic efficiency.
