The couple divorced in 1978 due to Ike's violence, infidelity, and increasing addiction to alcohol and drugs. They have one son together.
"Ike didn't want to be dependent on me, but he was forced to accept it. He became cruel precisely because he was forced to depend on me. I always tried to avoid conflict and confrontation because I knew the outcome of every argument would be the same."
