In 2022, Quang Ninh's Newspaper and Radio and Television achieved complete joy when the radio series "Controlling the Power of Officials: A Practical Experience from the Local Area" won the A Prize at the National Journalism Awards. Prior to this, in 2014 and 2016, Quang Ninh's radio and television journalists had already won two prestigious A Prizes at the National Journalism Awards, affirming the position of Quang Ninh's journalists.
Since its merger, in just six years, Quang Ninh Newspaper and Radio & Television has won 51 national-level journalism awards in various competition categories. Each year, the diligent "worker bees" of QMG bring home 5-7 awards, both large and small. Notably, in the last three years, this number has nearly doubled. Specifically: In 2024, Quang Ninh Newspaper and Radio & Television won 8 awards; in 2025, 11 awards; and in the first six months of 2026, 10 awards. Not only limited to national journalism awards, the "worker bees" of QMG have also been very successful in major competitions requiring high professionalism, such as the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the Dien Hong Award, the Political Commentary Competition on Defending the Party's Ideological Foundation, the Foreign Affairs Journalism Award, and the Journalism Award on the Development of Vietnamese Culture...

But, success doesn't come naturally. Passing through the judges' "narrow window" is a battle of wits. Behind the glitz and glamour of the awards are drops of sweat that only those involved truly understand: “Actually, each award-winning work has a memorable story. For some works, we spend all day following the subjects to get them to open up and tell their stories. For others, we invest millions of dong in taxi rides. Then there are the falls into streams, the rain, climbing mountains, going to remote islands… And after each assignment, we spend weeks meticulously collecting every sound, editing every interspersed detail, perfecting the script, and rushing to meet with guests. Journalism is like picking up pieces of life. Some pieces are joyful, some are sad, but when they are put together into a complete story, we find our work even more meaningful,” confided journalist Nguyen Thi Van Anh, recipient of numerous national journalism awards.

Today, a good news article needs more than just good content; it must also be visually appealing and engaging. Reporters from Quang Ninh Newspaper, Radio, and Television have had to reinvent themselves using a variety of modern "weapons": from vivid sound and images, complex 3D graphics, to presentation styles suitable for multiple platforms.
However, even the most modern machinery and technology are only tools. The greatest secret remains dedication and empathy for the profession. Journalist Pham Tang, a former winner of the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, shared: “To make an article touch the reader's heart, you have to immerse yourself in reality, listen, and live with the characters. It is the everyday stories, the heartfelt confessions, the joys and anxieties of the miners in Quang Ninh that give me the most humane topics.”
Major awards have always been the ultimate goal, the highest peak that journalists and reporters aspire to conquer. They serve as a crucible for honing the skills of the "black gold" of the mining region's journalism, enabling them to continue shining brightly and maintain a strong position in the hearts of the public and colleagues nationwide.
