Captain Phan The Tuan stated: "This initiative stems from the practical requirements in ensuring the technical maintenance of antennas at Long-Range Radar Station 2511. The receiving antennas are positioned close to the sea, spread over a large area, and are constantly subjected to the highly corrosive effects of the marine climate. Therefore, researching and developing antenna preservation equipment is an urgent requirement."
Through research, testing, and practical application at the unit, the initiative has yielded significant results. The equipment operates stably and meets maintenance requirements well. The greatest benefit of the initiative is the substantial savings in time and manpower. Previously, each antenna required about 15 minutes to clean, but now it only takes about 3 minutes. The total cleaning time for all antennas has been reduced from about 8 hours to about 2.5 hours.
At the same time, the number of personnel required to maintain each antenna is reduced to just one or two equipment operators. This significantly reduces labor intensity, increases work productivity, and allows technical staff to focus on other specialized tasks.
Furthermore, the initiative also significantly reduces water usage during storage. Previously, each antenna required 8 to 10 liters of water, but now only about 2 to 3 liters are needed, saving approximately 70% of water consumption.
Lieutenant Colonel Van Tan Binh, Head of Logistics and Technical Services of Regiment 251, affirmed: The initiative has high practical value, not only improving the quality of equipment maintenance but also contributing to reducing costs, saving manpower, increasing the efficiency of equipment utilization, and ensuring the combat readiness of the unit. With its simple structure, ease of manufacture, and wide application potential, the initiative can be effectively deployed at long-range radar stations throughout the Air Force.
In addition to the above initiative, in 2025, Captain Phan The Tuan, along with officers and staff of Radar Station 2511, researched and developed two initiatives to improve the logistics and technical sector, participating in regional competitions and winning one first prize and one third prize.
Thanks to his dedicated service, in 2025, Captain Phan Thế Tuấn was awarded 3 Certificates of Commendation and the title of "Outstanding Soldier at the grassroots level". Radar Station 2511 achieved the status of a comprehensively strong and exemplary unit.
