Ten Hag had a successful season, winning the Carabao Cup and, most importantly, bringing Manchester United back to a Champions League qualifying position. Of course, with his great ambitions, he also wants to conquer the FA Cup. However, Manchester City is the ultimate challenge in football today.

The most special Derby match in Manchester.

The FA Cup has a history spanning nearly 152 years. Manchester United have won it 12 times, while Manchester City have lifted the trophy 6 times. However, this is the first time the final will be an all-English affair between the two biggest clubs in the city.

In the past, they rarely met in big matches like this. Part of the reason is that Manchester United used to be a very strong force, while Manchester City struggled with many difficulties.

However, things have changed now. While the Red Devils are in the process of rediscovering themselves in the post-Sir Alex era, the blue team from Manchester is considered the strongest team in the world.

Over the past 10 years, MU has not won another Premier League title, while Man City has dominated the league with 6 top-of-the-table titles.

Twelve years ago, within the framework of the FA Cup, a match perhaps marked the beginning of a transformation for both teams. That was the semi-final of the 2010/2011 season.

Man City, with players like David Silva and Yaya Toure, defeated the red-shirted team 1-0 at Wembley, and then went on to reach the final and win their first title under their Arab owners.

Even Sir Alex himself began to sense the growing threat from his neighbors. But perhaps he couldn't have imagined that the gap between the two teams would be so wide now, with the blue team dominating for so many years.

Man City confident of a second title.

Pep Guardiola's team will certainly not show any signs of "giving up" like they did in last year's FA Cup. This is because this is their best opportunity to conquer the historic treble, something that only one other English team has achieved before: Manchester United in the 1998/1999 season.

Man City have already completed the first hurdle, the Premier League, early. Their key players have had the necessary rest before facing their supposedly weaker opponents.

The home fans are placing their faith in Pep more than ever, because this season they are seeing the most complete version of Man City after the disappointing failures of previous seasons.

At this point, Pep is no longer "overthinking." He has already laid the foundation before entering the crucial stage, and is sticking with it, rather than innovating too much.

The 3-2-4-1 formation proved to be a crucial solution, yielding numerous successes for the Spanish strategist.

With this arrangement, he was able to utilize all three of the best passers in midfield – Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva – in positions close to the opponent's penalty area, thereby increasing their attacking threat to the opposing defense.

Remember, in the past, these three midfielders often had to be rotated, or when all three were used, one had to drop deep to play in the center, limiting their creative potential.

Furthermore, moving John Stones up to play as a defensive midfielder is a top-notch solution. This allows for the utilization of the English player's versatility, as he excels at defending in the center and can also cover the right flank when needed.

This approach greatly supports Rodri in midfield, allowing Pep to create perhaps the best defensive wall ever – something he wasn't previously appreciated for.

In four matches against two of Europe's top attacking teams, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, in the Champions League, Man City conceded only two goals. That's an incredibly impressive record.

Given their current high form and all-around performance, it's no surprise that many believe Manchester City have a high probability of winning both upcoming finals.

The only thing that worries their fans is the recovery status of some key players. Ruben Dias, Akanji, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jack Grealish have all been absent recently, and while there are no signs of serious injuries, they need more time to be assessed.

Erik Ten Hag is having a headache trying to solve a difficult problem.

The Dutch strategist did very well in his first season managing MU. He had to overcome the shock of losing the first match of the season, deal with the Ronaldo situation, as well as many other issues.

Manchester United finished third in the Premier League and progressed deep into every cup competition, a significant improvement, especially compared to last season's disastrous run.

However, MU cannot reach the same position as Man City in the short term. Ten Hag understands this perfectly, and this final is a very difficult challenge for him.

He has beaten Pep once this season. That was in mid-January. Manchester United came from behind to win 2-1 at Old Trafford.

However, Man City had some internal conflicts back then, and certainly couldn't compare to their current version.

As for MU, after more than four months, they no longer have the services of Lisandro Martinez, their best defender. Rashford and Fred also haven't been able to perform as explosively as they did in the middle of the season.

However, Ten Hag still has his preferred midfield trio of Casemiro, Eriksen, and Bruno. When they play together, MU usually gets good results.

Another point worth noting for the Red Devils is that Man City's away performances are not as high as their performances at the Etihad.

In May, they played four away games, conceding goals in three and winning only one. This should give MU a bit more confidence.

However, MU themselves must overcome their weaknesses after leaving Old Trafford.

Most likely, the Red Devils will have to focus on playing a deep defensive line and need to hold firm for at least the first 15 minutes, a period that Pep has repeatedly instructed his players to prioritize attacking from the start.

If Manchester United establish a good defense, then employing counter-attacking tactics like those seen in the aforementioned victory is entirely feasible. This is partly because, apart from Walker, the other Manchester City defenders are not considered to be particularly fast.

Whose name will history remember?

It's been a long time since an FA Cup final has generated so much attention that the organizers have even taken an unprecedented step by engraving the word "Manchester" onto the trophy, primarily to increase the media coverage of this special Derby event.

Will the next word written be United or City? Clearly, the blue half currently holds the advantage in almost every aspect. But with the pride of England's most successful club, MU will be determined to do everything in their power to ensure the treble remains their own legacy.

Predicted lineup

MU (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Varane, Lindelof, Shaw, Wan Bissaka; Casemiro, Erkisen; Bruno, Fred, Sancho; Rashford.

Man City (3-2-4-1): Ederson; Ake, Ruben Dias, Akanji; Rodri, Stones; Grealish, Gundogan, KDB, Silva; Haaland.
