Early morning of June 8, the Vietnamese women's team will depart for Japan to train and prepare for the 2026 Asian women's qualifying round. Talking about the personnel this time, coach Mai Duc Chung said there are many young players in the squad.
“The Vietnamese women's team continues to be rejuvenated with many young players being called up for training. We have been doing this well since the 32nd SEA Games, so we have a well-rejuvenated squad when many athletes are also older. Without young athletes, our achievements are at risk of falling behind. Our goal is still to train and let young players get used to the way of training, living and competing in a big team, then gradually get used to competing,” coach Mai Duc Chung shared.

When asked about the new factor, Vietnamese-American player Nam Mi, coach Mai Duc Chung said that the Vietnamese women's team really needs naturalized players. However, the coaching staff also needs more time with Nam Mi to further evaluate. "We only have Nam Mi who is qualified to be on the national team. I hope that there will be more Vietnamese-American players to contribute to the national team. Nam Mi has only been training with the national team for two weeks, but I highly appreciate this player's training and competition spirit."
