Ben Tre is one of three provinces/cities ( Vinh Long , Ben Tre and Ho Chi Minh City) selected to pilot this school dental model.
Dr. Le Trung Chanh, Director of the Central Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Project 5628, stated that within the framework of the project, the hospital trained 30 primary and school health staff (in Ben Tre province) in basic oral care techniques and non-invasive caries prevention techniques; and in managing oral health check-ups and monitoring for students using software… This is the human resource that will join the hospital's medical staff in implementing the school dental program in Ben Tre province.
The school dental program will help manage students' oral health using digital technology; provide each school with tools to monitor students' oral health; and provide administrators (Ministry of Health, Central Dental Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, Department of Health) with digitized data on students' oral health conditions. From this, a model of oral health conditions among students nationwide will be developed.
