The task force has completed collecting DNA samples from 24 individuals who are relatives of 16 unidentified martyrs in the city. These include 10 mothers of martyrs, 13 relatives of martyrs, and 1 Heroic Vietnamese Mother. To facilitate the process for the martyrs' relatives, the city police directly visited their homes to collect the DNA samples. According to regulations, each martyr's family provided two DNA samples from their maternal relatives for comparison with the martyrs' remains data in the Martyrs' Gene Bank. Using this method, the martyrs' identities will be scientifically and accurately determined. This is a significant step in providing an accurate database for the "identification" of martyrs, helping to bring these heroic martyrs back to their families.
Over the years, the search for and collection of the remains of fallen soldiers has always been identified as an important political task with profound humanitarian significance. To identify the remains of unidentified soldiers, immediately following instructions from the Ministry of Public Security , the Can Tho City Police conducted surveys and notified the families of the fallen soldiers, ensuring that the sample collection process was accurate and timely.
