Authorities busted 73 gambling and football betting rings during the 2026 World Cup season.

During the 2026 World Cup alone, police forces nationwide discovered and dismantled 73 gambling and football betting rings, prosecuting 346 individuals involved. This information was announced by the Ministry of Public Security at a press conference on the results of their work in the first six months of 2026.

Colonel Bui Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Criminal Investigation of Social Order Crimes, Ministry of Public Security, spoke at the press conference.

The 2026 World Cup is a time when gambling and football betting activities, especially online, become more complex and pose a risk of generating other types of crimes.
