Locals visit a demonstration model of the MD1 rice variety in Tam Hong commune.
The MD1 rice variety, produced and supplied by Tien Hai Group Joint Stock Company, has a growing period of 115-120 days, suitable for the local spring rice cropping pattern. Practical production has shown that the variety grows vigorously, tolerates cold well, has concentrated tillering, strong stems, good lodging resistance, and produces fragrant, delicious rice.
The model was implemented on a scale of 1 hectare. Under the weather conditions of this year's spring crop, with high average temperatures, many hours of sunshine, and low rainfall, the rice growing period was shortened by 3-5 days compared to previous years. However, the MD1 rice variety still grew and developed well, with an estimated yield of over 66 quintals/hectare.

Initial results show that the MD1 rice variety adapts to various soil types, has high yield potential, and is suitable for expanding production in the main cropping seasons in the province. Introducing new rice varieties for testing, demonstration, and mass production not only contributes to diversifying the province's rice varieties but also enhances the effectiveness of restructuring the crop production sector towards improving productivity, quality, and value of agricultural products.
This will gradually replace old rice varieties with low yields and quality, meeting the requirements of commercial production and adapting to current climate change conditions.
