Ms. Chanh was born and raised in Binh Gia commune. Previously, her family's life depended primarily on agricultural production, leading to many hardships. Unwilling to accept poverty, she boldly transformed her production methods, developing a diversified economic model to increase her income.
Ms. Chanh shared: "In the early days of developing our economy, my family faced many obstacles due to a lack of capital and production experience. However, I always believed that with hard work, continuous learning, and choosing the right model, we could gradually overcome the difficulties. Therefore, I tried to find new ways of doing things and apply techniques to production to improve economic efficiency."
Accordingly, her family borrowed capital from relatives and friends to invest in renovating over 1,500 m² of land for growing organic vegetables. To improve productivity and product quality, she uses well-rotted manure, utilizes biological products in plant care, and limits the use of pesticides. In addition, she regularly weeds, waters at the right time, and practices crop rotation to both improve soil and reduce pests and diseases. Thanks to proper care, the vegetables grow well, are safe, and are popular with consumers. From this vegetable garden, her family earns approximately 40 million VND per year after deducting expenses.
In addition to growing vegetables, Ms. Chanh also develops poultry farming in a safe manner. Previously, her family raised pigs, but due to the impact of disease outbreaks, she switched to poultry farming about 5 years ago. On average, the family raises 3 or 4 batches of chickens and ducks each year, with over 400 birds per batch.
To raise poultry efficiently, she focuses on maintaining clean and well-ventilated pens, proactively administering all necessary vaccinations, and selecting healthy breeding stock. Simultaneously, utilizing over one acre of available land, her family grows rice and corn to both feed the poultry and sell to the market, significantly reducing feed costs and generating an additional income of approximately 20 million VND per year from agricultural sales. Thanks to the application of proper techniques, the poultry flock thrives, experiences few disease outbreaks, and is trusted by traders and people within and outside the commune, bringing in an income of over 100 million VND per year.
Not stopping there, for the past four years, her family has also opened a gas business to serve the needs of people in the commune. To maintain a stable customer base, she always focuses on reputation, ensuring product quality, on-time delivery, and dedicated service. From this business, the family earns an additional income of about 50 million VND per year.
In addition to the above models, Mrs. Chanh's family also develops the hill and forest economy with over 1 hectare of star anise trees that have been planted for more than 2 years. Currently, the star anise trees are growing and developing well, promising to bring a stable income in the coming years.
Besides developing her family's economy, Ms. Chanh also provides regular employment for several local workers, with an income of approximately 6-7 million VND per person per month. Ms. Hoang Thi Ha, from Hamlet 6A, Binh Gia Commune, said: "I have been working for Ms. Chanh's family for over 4 years now. My daily work mainly involves taking care of vegetables, feeding chickens and ducks, cleaning the coops, and helping with harvesting agricultural products... Each month I have a stable income of about 6-7 million VND, so I can cover my living expenses and take care of my family. During my time working here, Ms. Chanh is always enthusiastic, approachable, and willing to share her business experience and create conditions for us to feel secure and committed to working here long-term."
Commenting on Ms. Chanh, Ms. Hoang Thi Dien, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Gia commune and Chairman of the Farmers' Association of the commune, said: Ms. Hoang Thi Chanh is a model farmer, always dynamic and creative in developing her family's economy. Not only is she successful in business, but she also creates jobs for laborers and actively participates in local movements and activities, readily sharing her economic development experience with other households.
Thanks to her tireless efforts in labor and production, in February 2026, Ms. Hoang Thi Chanh was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for her effective economic development model, which actively contributed to poverty reduction and job creation for local people.
