Growing up step by step

Seventy-five years ago, on December 30, 1949, in the revolutionary base area of ​​Bac Tra My, the Tak Kot Party Branch was established with 9 party members, led by Comrade Ho Truyen as Secretary.

The establishment of the Tak Kót Party Branch (the present-day Trà Kót Commune Party Committee) was of immense significance, inspiring the spirit, will, and revolutionary movement among cadres, the people, and the local community. Through countless hardships and sacrifices, the revolutionary movement grew stronger, contributing to the liberation of the homeland.

Mr. Duong Lai, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Kot commune, recalled that during the difficult war years, the people here suffered from hunger, lack of clothing, and frequent robberies, making their lives extremely miserable.

Since the establishment of the Party branch, the people have trusted and followed the Party's leadership, determined to achieve peace and independence. In particular, some of the struggles of the people of Tra Kot commune strongly encouraged the spirit and ignited the revolutionary fighting will of the people of Tra My at that time.

Mr. Lai recounted: “The Party branch, upon its establishment, led the government and all strata of the people in increasing production, cultivating crops, and raising livestock. Following the directives from higher levels, each cadre and Party member set an example in carrying out propaganda work, mobilizing young people to enlist in the army, encouraging all strata of the people to participate in the civilian labor force, transporting goods for the revolution, contributing food and supplies to the troops, and providing support to the Southern battlefield.”

Despite the sacrifices, the revolutionary spirit of the Party members and the people remained unwavering, awaiting the final victory. After liberation, the Party committee, the government, and the people worked together to rebuild their homeland, gradually eradicating illiteracy and hunger. Today, people's lives have improved significantly compared to before.”

Throughout its development, the Party Committee of Tra Kot commune currently has 2 village Party branches and 4 agency Party branches, with 134 Party members. From the beginning of the 2020-2025 term to the present, the commune's Party Committee has consistently had over 90% of its members successfully complete their tasks, 90% of its Party branches successfully complete their tasks, and the Party Committee has consistently achieved good results every year.

The commune Party Committee has launched patriotic emulation movements to implement, publicize, and mobilize all sectors of the population to successfully carry out the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.

Taking care of the people's lives

With the principle of "Party members lead the way, the people follow," the Party Committee and government of Tra Kot commune have called for the pioneering and exemplary spirit of Party members in building and developing the economy. For example, Mr. Tran Kim Duong (a Co ethnic minority member from Hamlet 2, Tra Kot commune), now 40 years old, is still enthusiastically engaged in production with the spirit of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army.

Mr. Duong said: “Party members must lead the way, set the example, so that the people will trust and follow. During the war, they volunteered to participate in the revolution, fighting to protect every inch of their homeland; now, in peacetime, they must produce to eliminate poverty. Whatever crops they plant or raise, they must know how to apply technology to achieve high productivity. The commune and district provide guidance and support, but the people must also strive on their own to achieve results.”

Over time, the poverty rate in Tra Kot commune has gradually decreased annually, currently standing at 165 poor households (42.53%). People's lives have gradually improved, and all aspects of socio-economic development have progressed step by step. In agriculture, the application of science and technology has been promoted, increasing production efficiency, and irrigation works have been upgraded and repaired to ensure water supply for rice fields. Tra Kot has gradually replaced barren land and deforested hills, increasing forest cover annually, with an average of 200-300 hectares of regenerated forest planted each year.

The total area under annual production in the commune is 127.5 hectares, of which 82.5 hectares are rice paddies, with an average yield of 50 quintals/hectare. The total livestock and poultry population in the commune exceeds 5,300 animals. The average per capita income is estimated at 25 million VND/year.

To build a new rural commune, the people wholeheartedly responded and donated land and assets on the land to build welfare facilities. Tra Kot has achieved 16 out of 19 criteria for a new rural commune.

Mr. Pham Van Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tra Kot commune, said: “The Party Committee, government, and people of Tra Kot commune have unanimously built the commune based on support resources from the province and district, and contributions from the people. The commune has developed in many areas such as Party building, economy, society, education, and cultural preservation of ethnic minorities...”
