Manchester City are expected to win easily against Fulham. |
Manchester City narrowly avoided a bitter defeat in the Premier League title race, if not for a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Manchester City and Fulham will face each other again just over two months after their spectacular nine-goal clash at Craven Cottage, where "The Citizens" won 5-4. Manchester City have reason to be confident, having won all 19 of their most recent matches against Fulham in all competitions.
The home side have also won all 16 of their most recent Premier League matches against Fulham, the longest winning streak ever achieved by a team against another opponent in the history of English football.
Furthermore, "The Citizens" enjoy midweek matches at the Etihad, having not lost a single Premier League home game in 55 matches played on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday since their narrow 0-1 defeat to Tottenham in May 2010.
Fulham were among the Premier League teams competing for European qualification as the season neared its end, but a run of three defeats in their last four matches has set them back in the race for a top-seven finish.
As a manager, Marco Silva has lost all 13 matches against Man City, a record of 100% losses against a single opponent for any manager. Fulham have also lost all eight of their most recent Premier League matches at Manchester City's ground with a combined score of 4-25.
For Manchester City, Jeremy Doku (calf), Savinho (unspecified injury), John Stones (fitness), Josko Gvardiol (tibial fracture), and Mateo Kovacic (ankle) are still recovering. For Fulham, Sasa Lukic is still recovering from a thigh injury, while captain Tom Cairney missed the defeat to Everton due to a calf problem and is still unavailable.
