Glorious tradition
In compliance with the Resolution of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission) and the Directive of the Ministry of National Defense on building forces in the new situation, on April 1, 1983, the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 5 decided to establish the 889th Reserve Mobilization Regiment - the predecessor of the 739th Infantry Regiment today.
This event marks an important starting point, laying the foundation for the unit's long-term development and growth.
From its early days, despite numerous organizational, personnel, and material challenges, the Regiment quickly stabilized, gradually building a regular and disciplined force, and developing a strong reserve mobilization force. Under the leadership and guidance of the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command, and with the attention of local Party committees and authorities, the unit has continuously been strengthened and matured in all aspects.
Throughout its history of construction and development, the Regiment has consistently upheld the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance, and self-improvement, successfully fulfilling its assigned tasks. In particular, its participation in international missions in Cambodia has further enhanced the tradition of international solidarity, demonstrating the responsibility and noble qualities of a revolutionary soldier.

Over more than four decades, hardships and challenges have forged the character, will, and glorious traditions of the 739th Infantry Regiment. These traditions include absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people; unity, discipline, and responsibility; proactiveness, creativity, and readiness to accept and successfully complete all assigned tasks.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Trung, Political Commissar of the Regiment, emphasized: "The unit's traditions have been built on the sweat, effort, and sacrifices of many generations of officers and soldiers. This is an important spiritual foundation for the Regiment to continue developing and moving forward in the new phase."

Solid training, deep mass mobilization.
Building upon the glorious traditions forged over generations, the 739th Infantry Regiment has consistently focused on improving the quality of its mission performance, especially in training, combat readiness, and civilian outreach.
During training, the Regiment continuously innovates its content and methods in a practical manner, closely aligned with mission requirements and combat objectives. Training is organized rigorously, adhering to the principle of "basic, practical, and solid," combining military training with political education and disciplinary training. As a result, the level of proficiency, mobility, coordination, and combat readiness of officers and soldiers is continuously improved, effectively meeting the demands of the mission in the new situation.
Furthermore, the Regiment consistently maintains a strict combat readiness duty regime, closely monitors the local situation, and proactively develops and adjusts appropriate combat plans. Forces and equipment are tightly organized, ensuring readiness to effectively handle any situation, preventing passivity and surprise, and contributing to maintaining political security and social order in the area.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Hoa, Commander of the 739th Infantry Regiment, affirmed: "The unit is determined to continue innovating and improving the quality of training in a practical manner, focusing on combat readiness; at the same time, strengthening discipline, building a regular army, and enhancing overall strength to meet the requirements of the mission in the new situation."
During the "Quang Trung Campaign," the 739th Infantry Regiment was assigned to assist nine families in building and repairing their homes. Regardless of scorching sun or torrential rain, the officers and soldiers directly contributed their labor and effort; every brick and bag of cement was soaked with sweat and the spirit of camaraderie between the military and the people.
There are footsteps that don't echo in the marching music, but leave a deep mark on every newly built house, in the tearful eyes of the poor people as they live in a sturdy home for the first time.
Lieutenant Mai Hai Dang, the platoon leader in charge of helping Mr. Nguyen Dai's family (Tung Gian village, Tuy Phuoc Dong commune) rebuild their house after the storm, shared: "These new houses are not only shelters from the rain and sun, but also vivid proof of the close bond between soldiers and the people. There, you'll find laughter mixed with emotion, firm handshakes, and simple yet profound words of gratitude."
It is through these simple actions that the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" continues to be clearly depicted - always close to the people, for the people, and wholeheartedly dedicated to ensuring a prosperous and peaceful life for the people.

Looking broadly at the field of mass mobilization work, the Regiment continues to affirm its role as the core force in building a solid "people's support base." Officers and soldiers regularly stay close to the local area, actively coordinating with local Party committees and authorities to participate in socio-economic development, helping people alleviate poverty and build new rural areas.
At the same time, the unit focuses on caring for families entitled to preferential treatment and those who have made contributions to the revolution, contributing to the widespread dissemination of the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source".
