According to the advisory, the overall security situation for Chinese nationals in Japan continues to deteriorate. The notice also said that recent remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Taiwan have further damaged the atmosphere of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, creating additional risks to the safety and security of Chinese nationals in Japan.
Seven Chinese airlines also informed passengers scheduled to fly to Japan that they would refund tickets or allow ticket holders to change their flight routes until the end of the year.

The travel warning comes after Ms. Takaichi told lawmakers last week that Japan could use its military to intervene in any possible conflict in the Taiwan Strait, which separates Taiwan from mainland China.
Any Chinese military action against Taiwan would create a self-defense situation that could trigger a military response from Japan, she said.
Chinese officials have asked the Japanese Prime Minister to retract her comments. However, according to China Daily, Ms. Takaichi has so far refused to retract her comments.
Takaichi’s comments were also criticized by former Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. In a radio interview on Thursday, Ishiba said Takaichi’s comments were “very close to saying that the emergency in Taiwan is an emergency in Japan.”
