The Long March-2D rocket was launched at 9:58 Beijing time (8:58 Hanoi time) from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province, southwestern China, placing the Yaogan-39 satellite into its predetermined orbit.
This is the 500th mission of the Long March series of rockets.

In late September, China launched the Yaogan-33 04 remote sensing satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China. The Yaogan-33 04 satellite is used for scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop yield estimation, and disaster prevention and relief.
