China has just released the first footage showing this robot operating in a simulated urban combat environment. This information, reported by CCTV, marks a major step forward in the East Asian nation's automated battlefield technology.

These robots were developed by the China Military Logistics Research Institute of Automation. Compared to the previous generation, their physical structure has been reinforced to operate in harsh environments. In addition, their AI brains have been significantly upgraded, allowing them to make smarter and more autonomous decisions. Their ability to coordinate in groups has also been noticeably improved.

In terms of weaponry, the new generation of wolf robots can be equipped with micro-missiles and grenade launchers, serving to suppress enemy fire in high-density urban combat scenarios. They move at speeds up to 15 km/h, generate their own map data, share information in real time within the pack, and coordinate with drones to carry out precision attacks.

Each robot in the swarm has a specialized role. The reconnaissance unit gathers information and transmits images to the command center from a distance of up to 2 km. The attack unit uses reconnaissance data to destroy targets. The logistics unit carries approximately 20 kg of supplies and ammunition to support the front lines. This role-playing structure allows for coordinated tactics similar to those of soldiers on a real battlefield.

The control system has also been significantly upgraded. Operators can control the robot using voice commands or gestures via a data glove, enabling real-time human-machine collaboration on the battlefield.

A Chinese military expert told Global Times that this unmanned system can handle many dangerous frontline tasks, enhance real-time battlefield awareness, and improve both operational flexibility and psychological deterrence in urban warfare. Beyond its firepower, the wolf-like robots also have a demoralizing effect on the enemy because they cannot be neutralized by conventional means.

Globally, many countries are also researching similar technologies. In the US, Boston Dynamics has developed the four-legged robot Spot primarily for surveillance, inspection, and logistics. While the US military has tested armed robotic platforms, it still adopts a more cautious approach to fully automated combat systems.

The wolf robot first appeared at the Zhuhai Aerospace Expo in November 2024, and then participated in a military parade in September 2025. The newly announced generation marks a shift from a solitary unit to a coordinated pack, a trend that experts believe will reshape ground warfare in the near future.
