Many residential groups in Yen Bai ward joined hands to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for children, not only bringing joy after days of flood but also demonstrating the spirit of community cohesion and the local government's care for the young generation.

Being an area that suffered heavy damage in the recent flood, many roads were submerged in water, causing damage to property and crops, and seriously affecting people's lives. However, in difficult times, human affection became even warmer. This year's Mid-Autumn Festival, although simple, was full of meaning when many small neighborhoods in residential groups still tried to organize a full moon festival for children with all their heart and sharing.

Children in Tran Phu neighborhood enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival.

At Tran Phu hamlet in residential group 8, Van Phu ward, the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere was still full of joy. Despite not having a large budget, more than 20 children in the neighborhood had a party full of laughter. Adults in the residential group contributed money, some brought star lanterns, some prepared cakes and candies, arranged fruit trays, and organized folk games for the children.

In the shimmering star lanterns and the lively children's music, Luc Anh Thu, 8 years old, a student at Kim Dong Primary School, excitedly shared: "I am very happy because I get to enjoy the party with my friends, play games, and receive gifts from the uncles and aunts. What I like most is the star lantern that sparkles like the moon. I hope to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival every year so that I can play with my brothers and sisters in the neighborhood."

Not only is it a joy for children, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also an occasion for adults to gather and chat after hard days. Mr. Le Trung Khanh in Tran Phu quarter, residential group 8, Van Phu ward shared: “Yen Bai ward has just experienced a lot of damage due to floods, but everyone still tries to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for the children. Adults organize parties, both to encourage each other to overcome difficulties and to strengthen the neighborhood relationship. The atmosphere is very warm.”

Along with the small neighborhoods, the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere is also bustling in the Quang Trung Street neighborhood, Dong Tam 5 residential group, Yen Bai ward. The households here have together planned to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for children. A warm festival night with full trays of five fruits, moon cakes, vibrant lion dances and many attractive games was held right in the yard of the neighborhood's cultural house.

Ms. Phan Thi Minh Phuong, a resident in the neighborhood, shared: “We want to create a safe and fun space for children to feel the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere, especially after days of being affected by floods. All we hope is that the children will have a meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival night, laughing, having fun, and feeling the care and love from everyone around them.”

This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival is special because everyone is happy, I get to eat lots of candy and receive gifts from the uncles and aunts in the neighborhood.”

The Mid-Autumn Festival in Yen Bai ward this year may not be as exciting and large-scale as in big cities, but in residential areas that have just experienced severe natural disasters, the full moon festival has become a glue that binds the community, a symbol of love and sharing. Local authorities have also actively mobilized and provided spiritual support so that residential groups and residential areas can organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for children.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Ward People's Committee said: "We really appreciate the proactive spirit of the people. Despite being affected by natural disasters, the residential groups still brought a complete Mid-Autumn Festival to the children. This is a clear demonstration of the consensus and solidarity of the people, a solid foundation to overcome all difficulties."

In the shimmering light of the star lanterns, amidst the laughter of children, the traces of the flood seem to have softened. This year's Mid-Autumn Festival in Yen Bai ward is not only a place for children to receive joy, but also a message of optimism, the will to rise up and the community's concern for future generations. After the storm, the light from the brilliant Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns in the small street corners is still enough to warm people's hearts, reminding them that with love and solidarity, life will be peaceful and bright again.
