- The 10th Lang Son Provincial Sports Festival in 2026 is being implemented on schedule, creating a widespread impact among all segments of the population. The grassroots-level festivals have been completed, and the positive results from the pre-festival competitions have affirmed the development of the province's mass sports movement, laying an important foundation for the province's biggest sporting event.

In accordance with the directives and guidelines of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on organizing sports congresses at all levels leading up to the 10th National Sports Congress in 2026, Lang Son province has implemented all tasks comprehensively since the beginning of 2025. Leadership and guidance have been carried out promptly and practically; communes, wards, and units have proactively developed plans and prepared the necessary conditions to organize the congresses, ensuring quality and effectiveness.
To date, all 65 communes and wards in the province have completed their commune-level sports festivals, achieving 100% of the set plan. Each locality organized five or more competitive sports events, in accordance with their local conditions. Many sports are regularly maintained within the community, such as football, volleyball, badminton, athletics, chess, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, and pickleball.
Through the congress, many talented athletes have been discovered, selected, and trained to participate in provincial-level tournaments, contributing to improving the quality of the sports movement and creating resources for high-performance sports.
One of the young athletes who made a mark at this year's Provincial Sports Festival is Ho Thi My Chau (born in 2013), an athlete from the That Khe cluster. She excellently won one silver and one bronze medal in the cross-country event. My Chau shared: "Since I was little, I have maintained a running training regimen with my parents and older brother. My family has provided me with opportunities to participate in many cross-country races both within and outside the province, allowing me to accumulate more competitive experience. At this Provincial Sports Festival, I am very honored to be selected as an official athlete to compete and I am very happy to have won two medals. This is a motivation for me to continue training and striving for even higher achievements in the future."
Besides creating a healthy and beneficial playground, grassroots sports festivals also contribute to raising people's awareness of the role of physical training, promoting the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh," and building cultural life in residential areas. Many communes and wards have linked the organization of the festivals with cultural activities and traditional festivals, thereby contributing to preserving national cultural identity and strengthening solidarity within the community.
According to the Provincial Sports Festival Organizing Committee, as of now, the province has completed 13 out of 17 sports events before the opening ceremony, awarding 96 sets of medals to athletes who achieved high results.
The competitions took place safely, in accordance with the rules and regulations; professional work, refereeing, medical services, and security were ensured. Currently, the Department of Education and Training team is temporarily leading the overall medal standings, the Dong Dang cluster is in second place, and Dong Kinh ward is in third place.
Among the participating delegations, the Dong Dang cluster was one of the outstanding units. The cluster includes the communes of Dong Dang, Cao Loc, Cong Son, and Ba Son. Mr. Nguyen Khanh Linh, Director of the Public Service Center and Head of the Dong Dang Cluster Athletes' Delegation, said: "The Dong Dang Cluster Athletes' Delegation won 28 medals, including 13 gold medals, which is a very encouraging result for the delegation. This achievement is the result of the guidance and attention of the Party Committee and the commune government in maintaining the regular sports movement at the grassroots level, as well as the thorough preparation of the athletes before the Games. We will continue to encourage the athletes to compete and strive for the best results in the remaining events."
Mr. Duong Minh Tue, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the 10th Provincial Sports and Physical Education Congress, said: Currently, the Organizing Committee is focusing on preparing for the opening and closing ceremonies of the congress, which are expected to be held in mid-September 2026, and continuing to direct the organization of the remaining four sports (including athletics, tug-of-war, badminton, and stick pushing) to ensure they are in accordance with the plan, regulations, and professional standards. At the same time, they are reviewing and selecting outstanding athletes to continue training and preparing them to participate in the 10th National Sports Congress in 2026.
With the foundation of a deeply rooted mass sports movement, the active preparation of communes, wards, and units, and the determination of the participating teams, the congress promises to become a major sporting event for the people of all ethnic groups in the province, contributing to spreading the spirit of physical training, improving health, and promoting the development of the sports movement in the area.
