Truong Sa holds early elections.

Polling stations in the Truong Sa Special Administrative Region are being held earlier than the rest of the country. The polling area on Truong Sa Island will hold its election on the same day as the rest of the country, March 15th.

Speaking at the opening ceremony at polling station number 7 on Sinh Ton Island, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Tuong, Commander of Sinh Ton Island and head of the polling station, stated that the election of National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is an important political event for the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Tuong, this is also a widespread democratic activity, promoting the people's right to self-governance; it is a festival for the entire nation, when each voter exercises their rights and civic duties, choosing outstanding representatives to represent the will and aspirations of the people.

The Truong Sa Special Zone is located far from the mainland, with harsh weather and climate conditions. Voters participating in the election include officers and soldiers serving on the islands, residents living there, and fishermen engaged in fishing in the area.

Holding early elections aims to ensure the overall progress of the country, while also being consistent with the working conditions and combat readiness of the forces tasked with protecting maritime sovereignty and islands.

According to the plan, the Truong Sa Special Administrative Region has 21 polling areas; in this phase, 20 areas are holding early elections.

Earlier, on February 24th, ships 464 and 471 of Brigade 146 (Naval Region 4) departed from Cam Ranh Naval Port, carrying a working group along with ballot boxes, ballots, voter cards, and candidate lists to the Truong Sa Special Zone to facilitate early elections.
