Recalling his memories with his wife, Tran Tram Anh, a physical education teacher at Tung Thien High School (Hanoi), he recounted that in 1999, when he was assigned by his unit to teach the main military training week at Ngo Quyen High School (Hanoi), among the teachers at the school, the young officer was impressed by the teacher with long, silky hair, a round, gentle, and quiet face. After many conversations, sometimes casually expressing his feelings to gauge her reaction, Huong took the initiative to visit Tram Anh's home.

Thanks to his quick wit and humorous personality, combined with his witty conversational skills, he quickly won the affection of her parents. Besides his work, he frequently visited her home, always ready to help. The soldier's genuine affection won over the young teacher.

In 2001, they tied the knot. Over 25 years of marriage, their home has weathered many difficulties, only to deepen their love and appreciation for each other. In April 2025, while participating in the "Effective Civilian Mobilization" competition in Da Nang , Mr. Huong suffered food poisoning the day before the competition and had to be treated at Military Hospital 17 (Logistics and Technical Department of Military Region 5), nearly preventing him from participating. However, with the support of the leadership, commanders, and the entire team, especially the encouragement from his wife, he found the motivation to excel in all the competition events.

Following in the family tradition, their children are all well-behaved and excellent students. With strong support from her family and her own efforts, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Thanh Huong has consistently performed well and outstandingly in her duties for many years, receiving numerous commendations and awards from various levels.
