The year 1975 marked a historic milestone on April 30th, the day of the complete liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country. Fifty years after growing up alongside the great victory of the nation, the generation born in 1975 always takes pride in this achievement and uses it as motivation to study and train diligently with a desire to contribute. Many of them have overcome difficulties, achieved success, and contributed to the development of their homeland and country.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huong actively participates in scientific research.
Born in 1975 in a small village in Dien Hong commune (Kim Dong district), just after the country achieved peace and reunification, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, like many of his peers, had a difficult childhood as the nation struggled to overcome the devastating consequences of war. While many dropped out of school to work, Mr. Huong was determined to study hard to achieve success and build a career, believing that hardship would temper his will and strengthen his resolve. To attend university, Mr. Huong had to work while studying. After graduating, he worked at several enterprises specializing in research and development of plant and animal breeds. Seven years of practical research and work in a business environment provided him with valuable real-world knowledge. In 2004, he transferred to Hung Yen University of Technology and Education. There, he actively participated in scientific research with many highly-regarded projects at the university, provincial, and ministerial levels. After 18 years of service at the university, with his achievements and contributions in teaching and scientific research, in 2022, Mr. Huong was promoted to associate professor. This is the result of his tireless efforts.
Currently, Mr. Huong is an Associate Professor, Doctor of Philosophy, and Head of the Economics Department at Hung Yen University of Technology and Education. Having grown up alongside the reunification of the country for 50 years, Mr. Huong has achieved many outstanding accomplishments, receiving commendations and awards from various levels, sectors, and organizations.
Mr. Huong shared: "Born in the first year after the country's complete liberation, war and turmoil were still daily stories told by my parents and grandparents. Although childhood after liberation was still difficult, it was no longer filled with the constant fear of bombs and bullets. The achievements I have today, besides my own efforts, are also the immeasurable value of peace, independence, and unity. Therefore, I always take that as motivation to continue the traditions of my ancestors, striving and dedicating myself to building and developing the country."
Businessman Doan Ba Nguyen: A source of pride born from the reunification of the country.
Businessman Doan Ba Nguyen, Director of Ngoc Anh Wood and Agricultural Products Trading and Manufacturing Company Limited, Lien Phuong commune (Hung Yen city), was born on October 10, 1975 – a year associated with a momentous historical milestone for the nation: the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Mr. Nguyen shared: "I always feel fortunate to have been born in peacetime, with the country united and the nation reunified. This reminds me to live responsibly and always strive to improve and work harder in life to be worthy of the generations of our ancestors who spared no blood and sacrifice in the struggle for national independence and freedom."
In Mr. Nguyen's childhood memories, after the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country, his family, like many others, faced countless difficulties. These included the era of rationing, meals consisting mainly of corn, potatoes, and cassava, with meat being a rare treat. The stories and lessons passed down by his grandparents and parents about the value of peaceful and independent life nurtured his patriotism and self-reliance from a young age. This formed the foundation for the positive worldview and strong, resilient character of businessman Doan Ba Nguyen.
Established in 2017, Ngoc Anh Wood and Agricultural Products Trading Company Limited has, under Mr. Nguyen's leadership, continuously overcome difficulties, actively seeking partners, and gradually shifting from a traditional household furniture production model to natural wood house construction. On average, the company builds 10 to 15 natural wood houses annually, encompassing various types such as residential houses, ancestral temples, and even historical sites, generating approximately 15 billion VND in revenue and providing employment for around 50 workers with monthly incomes ranging from 6 to 12 million VND. Furthermore, Mr. Nguyen actively participates in social activities. He firmly believes that the sustainable development of a business must be linked to social and community responsibility. Mr. Nguyen shared his thoughts: “Fifty years after the reunification of the country, enough time has passed for a generation to mature and empower the next. In the future, I will support and help young people set goals and ideals to realize their entrepreneurial aspirations and continue contributing to the development of their homeland and country.”
Doctor Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy is dedicated to her patients.
In December 1975, the family of veteran Nguyen Anh Quang in Di Che commune, now Vuong town (Tien Lu district), joyfully welcomed the birth of their daughter, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy. Although fortunate to be born in peacetime, from a young age, Thuy witnessed firsthand the unfortunate lives left behind by the war; her father himself was a victim of Agent Orange… From then on, Thuy was always determined to study hard to become a doctor and contribute her efforts to helping the sick. In 1994, Thuy was admitted to Thai Nguyen Medical University, studying to become a general practitioner. In 2000, after graduating from university, Thuy began working at the General Internal Medicine Department of Hung Yen Provincial General Hospital. To improve her professional skills, in 2010, she continued her studies in dermatology at Hanoi Medical University… With her solid professional skills and dedication to patients, from 2014 to 2016, Dr. Thuy was appointed Deputy Head and then Head of the Dermatology Department at Hung Yen Provincial General Hospital, a position she holds to this day.
Dr. Thuy shared: "As the daughter of a war veteran who experienced the war and was exposed to Agent Orange, I understand the brutality of war and the sacred value of a completely liberated and unified country. Growing up for 50 years in peace and unity, witnessing the daily changes of my homeland, I always feel happy and proud. As a doctor, I always remind myself to continuously learn to improve my skills and expertise, and to work with a sincere heart to serve the people and contribute to making the springs of our nation even more beautiful."
The generation born in 1975 is always aware of their good fortune and responsibility as the first generation born in peacetime and after the reunification of the country. Despite a difficult childhood marked by the aftermath of war, they have strived to overcome these challenges, contributing to building a more beautiful and prosperous nation. For 50 years, each of them, in their respective roles, has diligently studied and worked to protect the achievements that their fathers, grandfathers, and predecessors shed blood and sacrificed their lives to obtain.
