According to the 2026 high school graduation exam schedule, on June 11th, candidates will take two compulsory subjects: Literature in the morning and Mathematics in the afternoon; on the morning of June 12th, candidates will take two elective subjects.
Thorough preparation
Passionate about logistics, Tran Thi Kim Chi, a student in class 12A2 at Vo Van Kiet Secondary and High School, studies diligently with the goal of being admitted to the University of Transport.
Kim Chi started preparing for the exam early. During the summer of her 11th grade year, she began studying the 12th grade curriculum, mastering the basic knowledge in the textbooks for all four exam subjects: Math, Literature, Physics, and Chemistry. She then moved on to practicing with sample exam papers from the Ministry of Education and Training , mock exams from provincial education departments, and specialized schools nationwide to familiarize herself with the exam structure and learn how to allocate time effectively to avoid feeling flustered in the exam room.
To absorb knowledge effectively, Kim Chi divides her time throughout the day, dedicating fixed time to each subject and focusing on solving practice problems. In the afternoon and evening, she reviews the main points and checks the questions she answered incorrectly to correct them and learn from her mistakes. "I don't stay up after midnight, and I arrange my study and rest time in a reasonable and scientific way to study effectively and avoid burnout," Kim Chi said.
Meanwhile, Le Nguyen Hoai Thanh, a student in class 12A8 at Vo Van Kiet Secondary and High School, chose to take history and geography exams to apply for the journalism major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
To confidently approach the exam, Hoai Thanh created a clear study schedule for each subject and strived to study consistently every day. She focused on reviewing important knowledge, doing extra exercises, and practicing with sample tests to familiarize herself with the exam structure. In addition, she studied in groups with friends to exchange ideas and help each other understand the material better. During the final preparation phase, Hoai Thanh allocated specific time to each subject, prioritizing weaker subjects while still maintaining review of her strong subjects. Every day, she reviewed the material, did practice tests, and corrected her mistakes to learn from them. Hoai Thanh said: “I studied using mind maps because this method helps me remember knowledge quickly and easily organize my lessons. Practicing with sample tests helps me get used to time pressure and the exam structure. Besides studying, I maintained my health by getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, and resting properly, keeping a relaxed mind and the best possible concentration.”
Enter the exam with confidence.
Like Kim Chi and Hoai Thanh, many students at An Giang 1 Ethnic Boarding High School prepared thoroughly throughout the long journey, accumulating sufficient knowledge and skills, and maintaining a confident mindset as they entered the important exam.
Aiming to be admitted to the English Language Teaching program at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Duong Thanh Dat, a 12th-grade student from An Giang 1 Ethnic Boarding High School, has been diligently and seriously reviewing his studies. Thanh Dat said: “In the days leading up to the exam, I only reviewed my history and English knowledge, not studying any new material, so that I could approach the exam as comfortably as possible.”
Similarly to Thanh Dat, Danh Thi Viet Trinh, a 12th-grade student from An Giang 1 Ethnic Boarding High School, studies diligently under the guidance of her teachers. She plans to apply to the English Pedagogy program at Can Tho University and chose to take English and History in the high school graduation exam. “Although studying is hard, I don’t stay up too late. In the days leading up to the exam, I maintain a relaxed state of mind to avoid mistakes due to pressure,” Viet Trinh said.
Meanwhile, Tran Huynh Tu Ngan, a 12th-grade student from An Giang 1 Ethnic Boarding High School, registered to take two elective subjects, physics and chemistry, to apply for the mathematics education major with the A00 admission combination (mathematics, physics, chemistry). Having diligently studied for a long time in preparation for this important exam, Tu Ngan constantly encouraged herself to stay calm and confident in order to do her best.
Besides studying, resting, and relaxing properly, before and during the exam days, students also focus on eating nutritious food to maintain good health and spirits, and to pass the exam with a strong and confident mindset.
