Coming from a family with a tradition in the medical field, Phu Nhat was inspired early on to want to wear a white lab coat . However, his academic path was sometimes not as he wished; his results were mediocre at times, and he even failed to get into his dream specialized high school.

A challenging journey

Despite dedicating a lot of time and effort, the results were not as expected, and the feelings of disappointment and regret were far from relieved during the first days of 10th grade. This was also because both my family and I had placed too much expectation on that exam. I can accurately describe my feelings at that time as a complete collapse, even haunted by the occasional question or inquiry from relatives and friends about the results and scores.

Upon entering a different school, he discovered that his classmates were all very talented and incredibly hardworking. This forces him to constantly strive, to forget what could be called his first major failure, and to be grateful for that meaningful setback as it helped him realize he needed to try harder, especially to have a better attitude towards studying.

Phu Nhat chooses to think positively, turning failure into a powerful motivation for new goals. When faced with choices for the next milestone, the young man from Hanoi admits that he is more mature and has thought more deeply about things.

Nhat's excellent high school graduation results were enough for him to continue his family's tradition of pursuing a career in the medical field. This was the moment when he had to weigh the most important decision of his life. On one hand, everything was familiar if he studied in Hanoi; on the other hand, he would step out of his comfort zone, with many opportunities but also many challenges.

Ultimately, Phu Nhat chose to study in Ho Chi Minh City as a way to challenge himself and give himself the opportunity to interact and integrate with different cultures. "My family often visits Ho Chi Minh City during Tet or summer holidays, so I have a pretty good understanding of the people and culture here. Every time I go to Ho Chi Minh City, I feel a strong sense of energy, youthfulness, and excitement," Phu Nhat confided.

For me, happiness is being content with what I have, even if it's not perfect.

Once the decision is made, there are no regrets.

Arriving in Ho Chi Minh City and starting student life right during the period when the city was still under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the emotional turmoil of forced lockdowns, cultural barriers, and online learning made you quite anxious and somewhat overwhelmed in the first few months, even though your family always encouraged and supported you whenever you needed it.

Gradually, things became familiar and settled, and Phu Nhat proactively chose to participate more in the school's Youth Union and Student Association activities. "I gained many new experiences and perspectives in life and studies through these activities. I feel more confident, gradually improving my soft skills and developing social relationships. My foreign language and technology skills have also improved significantly," Phu Nhat proudly shared.

Medical students have a demanding academic schedule, so Nhat balances his studies and extracurricular activities by choosing only those that suit his abilities, interests, and goals. He also adjusts his time allocation depending on each stage of his studies, as he always aims for the highest possible return on his investment.

Nhat said that for you, there are no wrong decisions because even if you did things differently, the outcome of that different path might not necessarily be better. The important thing is that with each decision we make, we must commit to it wholeheartedly.

"I always focus on becoming the best version of myself, constantly listening and learning. I am happy and satisfied with what I do, but that doesn't mean I won't continue to strive," Phu Nhat expressed.

He has just become the General Secretary of the Vietnam Health Sciences Student Network. This is also a step towards realizing your desire to contribute to important goals alongside your future colleagues.

Joining the Vietnamese Health Sciences Student Network not only gives you and others the opportunity to improve your knowledge and professional skills, but also allows you to effectively participate in building a supportive community and promoting awareness of the importance of health to society.

Sharing his thoughts about this student, Master's degree holder and doctor Ho Ngoc Loi, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that he is a young person always full of energy, enthusiasm, and clearly demonstrates a pioneering and creative spirit in every activity assigned to him. Recently, in the summer of 2023, Nhat successfully completed his role as the head of the organizing committee for the nationwide Biochemistry Championship.

"From a lecturer's perspective, I see that she is always positive and proactive in speaking up and contributing to discussions. This is an important skill and a good foundation for developing a career in medicine later," said Mr. Loi.

The age of 20 is full of fiery passion.

Besides his role as General Secretary of the Vietnam Health Sciences Student Network, Nguyen Phu Nhat currently holds many other positions. These include Vice President of the University's Student Union, Secretary of the Youth Union for the Medical Faculty in 2021, member of the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Medicine's Youth Union, and Deputy Director of the Center for the Development of the Global Medical Student Network at the university...

Maintaining excellent academic performance, actively participating in Youth Union and Student Association activities, and consistently being present at every community event are the most basic characteristics of Nguyen Phu Nhat at the present time.
