20 years old choose to challenge yourself

Born and raised in Hanoi , Nguyen Phu Nhat chose to "go South" and pursue his white-blouse journey in Ho Chi Minh City. Although it was an extremely difficult decision, he said he never regretted challenging himself.

His family had a tradition of medicine, so Phu Nhat was inspired early on to wear a white coat . But his studies were sometimes not as expected, sometimes the results were mediocre, and he even failed the specialized school he dreamed of in high school.

A challenging journey

Despite spending a lot of time and effort, the results were not as expected. The feeling of disappointment and regret was not at all relieved when entering the first days of grade 10. It was also because both his family and himself had placed too many expectations on that exam. Nhat described his mood at that time as being devastated, even haunted, even just by chance encountering or hearing questions from relatives and friends about the results and scores.

Entering another school, he discovered that his friends were all very talented and hardworking. This forced him to constantly try, to forget this failure that could be called the beginning of his life, and to thank that meaningful failure for helping him realize that he needed to try harder, especially to have a better sense of studying.

Phu Nhat chooses to think positively, turning failure into a strong motivation for new goals. When faced with choices for the next milestone, the Hanoi native admits that he is older and has thought more.

The excellent high school graduation result is enough for Nhat to continue the family tradition of pursuing a white-collar career. That is the time when you have to think the most about the important decision of your life. On one side, everything is familiar if you study in Hanoi, on the other side, you will have to step out of your comfort zone, with many opportunities but also many challenges.

Finally, Phu Nhat chose to study in Ho Chi Minh City as a way to challenge himself, and also to give himself the opportunity to exchange and integrate culturally with other regions. "My family often goes to Uncle Ho's city for tourism during Tet or summer, so we understand the people and culture here quite well. Every time I go to Ho Chi Minh City, I feel the abundant, youthful and exciting energy," Phu Nhat confided.

Happiness to me is being satisfied with what I have, even if it's not perfect.

Decided, no regrets

First, coming to Ho Chi Minh City, starting student life right in the period when the city was still under social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Emotional turmoil during the forced social distancing period, cultural barriers, and online learning made you quite worried and somewhat overwhelmed in the first months, even though your family always encouraged and supported you wholeheartedly whenever you needed it.

Then gradually everything became familiar and settled into order, Phu Nhat proactively chose to participate more in the school's Youth Union and Association activities. "I gained more experiences and new perspectives in life and study when participating in these activities. I found myself more confident, gradually improving my soft skills as well as developing social relationships, and my ability to use foreign languages ​​and technology also improved significantly," Phu Nhat boasted.

The schedule of medical students is heavy, so Nhat balances between studying and participating in movement activities by only choosing activities that are suitable for his ability, interests and desired goals. He also flexibly changes his time fund depending on each stage of study to suit the activities because he always sets the goal for himself that all investments must achieve the highest efficiency.

I assure you that no decision is wrong because if you do it differently, the result of that other direction is not necessarily better. The important thing is that with every decision we make, we need to live and die with it.

"I always focus on becoming the best version of myself, constantly listening and learning. I am happy and satisfied with what I do, but that doesn't mean I don't continue to try," Phu Nhat expressed.
