Give love

Traveling along the streets of Hue city with members of the Youth Volunteer Team to give gifts to female sanitation workers and elderly women in difficult circumstances during the holidays, one can see how meaningful their work truly is. This is just one of dozens of meaningful activities that the Youth Volunteer Team members have carried out recently.

Three times a week, several members of the Youth Union take turns visiting underprivileged children with weak academic performance at Nguyen Trai, Ngo Kha, and Quang Trung primary schools to provide tutoring and extra lessons in math and Vietnamese.

Ha Van Thai Khang, a student in class 3.1 (Ngo Kha Primary School), shared: "Thanks to the extra tutoring from the university students after school, I have grasped the knowledge more firmly."

Tran Thi Thanh Van, a second-year student in the Faculty of Literature at the University of Education, who regularly attends tutoring sessions for elementary school students, shared: "Most of the weak students come from very difficult family circumstances, so when schools cooperate with the Youth Union to help with tutoring, the students attend very diligently, always listen attentively, and are eager to learn. Most of them have shown significant improvement in their academic performance."

The meaningful gifts and cultural performances by the team members brought warmth and love to the children of Huong Son Commune Kindergarten, Nam Dong District, during the "Warm Clothes for Winter" program, at the end of 2022.

Despite its large membership, the group operates professionally, divided into eight smaller teams, each with a leader for easier management and coordination. Activities are meticulously planned, outlining tasks and schedules, allowing members to choose and register to participate according to their study time. This is crucial in helping members actively engage in volunteer work while maintaining high academic performance.

Duong Thi Ha Giang , the team leader of the Youth Union, shared: "All members share a passion for volunteering. The places we go to may be remote areas, or the people we interact with are the poor, the sick, or those in difficult circumstances. We operate based on funds contributed by all members and carry out fundraising programs such as selling flowers on holidays, selling drinks, selling snacks... All income and expenses of the team are transparent and clearly monitored, so members are always actively contributing and arranging time to participate in fundraising activities."

With youthful enthusiasm

As an active member in volunteer activities, Le Nguyen Minh Nguyen shared: "Doing charity work without pay, members have to contribute their own money to the group's activities. Many trips to deliver gifts to remote areas require a lot of preparation and travel time, but members who register to participate always arrange their time and studies to regularly participate with the group."

Watching the young students busily and carefully preparing and packaging gifts of candies, snacks, and toys for the children at Tam Binh Orphanage (Thuy Xuan, Hue City) on the occasion of International Children's Day, one can truly feel their enthusiasm and dedication to charitable work.

For the team members participating in charitable activities, the motto is: "Life is about giving, not just receiving," so each person tries their best to bring hope and love for life to those facing difficult and unfortunate circumstances. Regardless of the distance or the amount of work involved, each young person who registers to participate actively takes part in all tasks and is present at all activities. Each charitable trip organized by the team usually has between 20 and 70 members participating.

Thanks to volunteer trips, many students have had the opportunity to experience new places and new things, share joys and sorrows with people they meet for the first time, and hone their communication and life skills.

According to Mr. Hoang Phi Hai, Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Education: Although the number of Youth Union members is quite large, they always operate according to regulations and have specific and detailed plans. Not only do they actively participate in charitable activities, each program they organize is practically effective and meaningful for the community, but the team members also connect and help each other in their studies...
