Vietnam men's volleyball team stopped at Asian Cup

Having lost the opening match of Group D against Al Muharraq (Bahrain) early, the chances of Sport Center 3 - the Vietnamese men's volleyball team - to continue have narrowed considerably. The condition for coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team to get a ticket to the quarterfinals is to overcome Qatar's Al-Rayyan in the decisive match at noon on May 13 at the Panasonic Arena in Kyoto, Japan.

Sport Center must face Al-Rayyan who are superior in every aspect

The goal of defeating Al-Rayyan is really too much, not only because the Qatar team had defeated Al Muharraq in three sets on the opening day of the tournament. The players under coach Luis Cunha are no different from "mobile towers", except for the two libero players who are "only" 1.78 m and 1.79 m tall, all the remaining positions on the field are at least 1.90 m tall.

Not only superior in height and strength, Al-Rayyan also showed off an extremely "huge" force. Besides three foreign players Keita Noumory (Mali, 2.06 m), Abdel Nimir (Netherlands, 2.02 m) and Urnaut Tine (Slovenia, 2 m) who are often present in the main squad, the Qatari team still has a fourth foreign player Costa Marcus (Brazil, 1.94 m) and two naturalized Eastern European players, Stefanovic Milos and Ivovic Ilja, who are also two extremely dangerous attackers.

Having started the game well, Sport Center 3 then had to struggle to fend off unstoppable attacks from their opponents. While Abdel Nimir was too good at serving, winning many direct points, Keita Noumory often scored points from high jumps that eliminated all blocks.

Overcoming the weakness in the first pass and making fewer errors in serving like in the match with Al Muharraq, however, Sport Center 3 was like a "delicious bait" for Al-Rayyan. They lost quickly 11-25 in the first set and although they played better afterwards, especially leading the opponent at times, but in the end, the team still lost 15-25 and 21-25 in the next two sets.

Losing 0-3 to Al-Rayyan after only 59 minutes of competition, Sport Center 3 officially stopped at AVC Men's Champions League 2025. Coach Tran Dinh Tien's team lost both matches against strong opponents in the same group and in return learned valuable lessons in the continental playground, preparing for upcoming international tournaments in 2025.
