Help people settle down

Taking care of people's housing is always considered by the Party Committee, government, all levels, sectors, and socio -political organizations of U Minh Thuong commune as a key task, helping people have a stable life and sustainably reduce poverty. The commune has flexibly applied mechanisms, policies, and resources to join hands in supporting housing for meritorious people, poor and near-poor households to have stable housing and escape poverty sustainably.

After more than 5 months of moving into a new, solid house, the joy of Mrs. Vo Thi Be, residing in U Minh Thuong commune, is still intact, because the house is a lifelong dream that her family never expected to be able to build. Mrs. Be's family is poor and has no stable job. Due to difficult family circumstances and not being able to build a house, for many years, Mrs. Be had to live in a dilapidated house. When there was a policy to support the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses, she received support from the local authorities to build a solidarity house. "Thanks to the local government's support in building a solid house, now my family is no longer afraid of wind and rain, life is more stable," said Mrs. Be.

This year, the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bay, residing in U Minh Thuong commune, was able to celebrate Tet in a spacious house. Mrs. Bay's family is in difficult circumstances, their economy mainly depends on hired labor, the house has been degraded for many years and there are no conditions to build or repair it. Through a survey, U Minh Thuong commune mobilized resources to support Mrs. Bay's family with funding to build a house from the program "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses". "My family is very happy to have a new spacious house. I did not expect that at my old age, my wish would come true. I am extremely grateful to the local government for supporting the funding to build the house," Mrs. Bay confided.

Implementing the program "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses", U Minh Thuong commune has built more than 230 solidarity houses and 229 gratitude houses, with a total value of more than 26.2 billion VND, helping people settle down, find jobs, and improve their lives. Chairman of the People's Committee of Duong Quoc Khoi commune shared: "This is a very meaningful and correct policy. Thanks to the Party's policies, the State's policies, the cooperation of the Party Committee, the government and socio-political organizations, many families have solid houses to live in, thereby focusing on labor, production, and sustainable poverty reduction".

Join hands to care for social security

Identifying social security work as an important task and regular work, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and socio-political organizations in U Minh Thuong commune have proactively advised the Party Committee, coordinated with the government to develop programs and plans to effectively carry out the work of caring for the poor and people in difficult circumstances, thereby promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc, creating consensus among the people, and mobilizing resources to actively contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.

According to the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of U Minh Thuong Commune, Pham Thi Bich Phuong, in recent years, taking care of people's lives has been one of the key tasks of the commune, aiming to improve the quality of life of the people, contributing to political and social stability and creating development momentum. Responding to the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" launched by the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and its member organizations have implemented many practical activities to care for and support poor households and households in difficult circumstances, ensuring social security.

In order to have resources to care for poor households and people in difficult circumstances, every year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of U Minh Thuong commune maintains the organization of launching a fund for the poor to arouse the spirit of solidarity and mutual love among the people. The work of gratitude is also focused on implementation. From 2024 to now, the commune has built and repaired 108 gratitude houses, with a total value of over 8 billion VND. Every year, on holidays and Tet, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune coordinates to visit and give gifts to policy families, with a total value of over 500 million VND...

“In order to better care for the people, the poor, and those in difficult circumstances, in the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of U Minh Thuong commune will focus on innovating propaganda methods and mobilizing the people, with high determination to contribute to the successful implementation of the goals set out in the resolution of the Party Congress of the commune. At the same time, promoting the core role, continuing to accompany the locality in poverty reduction and social security work”, said Ms. Pham Thi Bich Phuong.
