In the second match of Group A at the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship finals held in Indonesia, Vietnam U17 had an easy game against Timor-Leste U17, the team considered the weakest in the group.
Coach Cristiano Roland fielded a slightly altered lineup compared to the opening match against U17 Malaysia on April 13th. Tran Ngoc Son, Hoang Trong Duy Khang, and Pham Minh Cuong started, aiming to score as many goals as possible against U17 Timor-Leste.
In the first half, despite the opposing team's best efforts to defend, the Vietnam U17 team still scored 4 goals with strikes from Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc (6th and 32nd minutes), Le Trong Dai Nhan (20th minute), and Tran Ngoc Son (24th minute).
Of those goals, both scored by Nguyen Luc were spectacular free kicks from outside the penalty area.

Vietnam U17 scored the remaining 6 goals in the second half with strikes from Tran Tri Dung (61st minute), Nguyen Van Duong (67th, 72nd and 81st minutes), and Hoang Trong Duy Khang (70th minute).
With a resounding 10-0 victory over U17 Timor-Leste, U17 Vietnam temporarily occupies the top spot in Group A and is likely to maintain this position until the end of the second round of the group stage.
This will be a boost of confidence for Coach Roland's team ahead of their final match against the host team, U17 Indonesia, on April 19th.
If U17 Indonesia doesn't win convincingly against U17 Malaysia by more than 10 goals, U17 Vietnam only needs a draw in the final match to secure a direct spot in the semi-finals, because in the first match U17 Indonesia only won against U17 Timor-Leste 4-0, far behind us in goal difference.
