According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Europe, speaking at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the Ukrainian leader said he was ready to negotiate directly with President Putin, instead of waiting until all other parties in the world have resolved their conflicts. He also acknowledged that the main issue for the US currently is the conflict with Iran.

The most recent negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by the US, took place in February in Geneva, Switzerland. The US has stated that it currently has no ongoing or planned negotiations with Ukraine.

On the same day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the risk of escalation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict was "real," amid Ukraine's increasing ability to conduct long-range attacks deep inside Russian territory.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Washington, speaking before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Rubio stated that recent developments demonstrate the need for efforts to end the conflict that has lasted more than four years. He noted that Ukraine is increasingly improving its ability to conduct long-range attacks. He argued that this development highlights the necessity of efforts to find a solution to the conflict, given that the risk of escalation remains and is considered higher than it was two years ago.

Earlier that day, during a hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Secretary of State Rubio expressed concern about the progress in finding a peaceful solution to the conflict, acknowledging that diplomatic efforts so far had not yielded any significant breakthroughs. According to him, neither Moscow nor Kyiv are currently ready to make the necessary concessions to pave the way for a peace agreement.

The head of US diplomacy affirmed that Washington remains ready to support diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, and stated that the country has devoted significant resources and time at a high level to promoting this process over the past year.
