On March 20th, Ung Hoang Phuc released the music video "Where My Heart Takes Refuge ," a collaboration with singer Thu Thuy. This musical product marks Ung Hoang Phuc's comeback after a period of numerous personal life controversies.
"Chốn tim mình nương nạc" (The Place Where My Heart Takes Refuge ) is a ballad with elements of Chinese music and Vietnamese lyrics written by Mai Fin, telling the story of a deep but unfulfilled love. The music video marks 23 years of collaboration between Ung Hoang Phuc and Thu Thuy, since their hit song " Mỗi người một nơi" (Each Person in a Different Place).
However, after two days of release, the new music video has yet to attract much attention. Launched on Ung Hoang Phuc's channel with nearly 2 million subscribers, the MV has only reached about 19,000 views to date – a rather lackluster number compared to the average for the male singer's MVs and the music market in general.
On social media, "Where My Heart Takes Refuge" also faced mixed reviews. The music video's visuals were criticized for lacking investment, with the two singers simply standing and singing in the same frame, with virtually no change in setting.

Meanwhile, the melody of the song is considered not catchy or appealing enough, the arrangement lacks creativity compared to the original song, and the lyrics are sometimes cliché and fail to leave much of an impression.
"You should find a better lyricist," "The lyrics are strange, the music is too different from before. The lyrics don't suit current tastes either," "Fast and abrupt. This song doesn't evoke the same emotion as the previous ones"... these are some of the mixed reviews from viewers.
Besides that, there are also opinions supporting the male singer and commenting that this is Ung Hoang Phuc's style.
Ung Hoang Phuc, born in 1981, is one of the prominent voices of Vpop in the 2000s with many hit songs such as " Rather Be Like That," "I'm Looking for Myself," "Nostalgia ," etc. Among them, "Rather Be Like That" was a musical phenomenon with over 55,000 album copies sold.
Last year, he was involved in a controversy when his music video "Brothers as One" was found to contain advertisements for a gambling website.
