Upon arriving at the anchorage area near Song Tu Tay Island, the delegation was allowed to visit the island. Each officer and trainee was deeply moved to meet the officers, soldiers, and people on the island.
Upon arriving at Song Tu Tay Island, everyone seized the brief opportunity to chat with the officers and soldiers. In that brief moment, the delegation sat and conversed with the soldiers in the shade of lush greenery. The conversation became cheerful, with many questions asked such as: How are you all doing? Do you miss home a lot? Does anyone have a girlfriend/boyfriend? Will you miss the island after your discharge? And what are your future plans? With these warm, friendly, and affectionate questions, the soldiers opened up, chatting naturally, simply, and endearingly.

Major Tran Thi Lan, a professional military medical officer at the Naval Academy, said: “We had the opportunity to interact and chat with the officers and soldiers here. Although the time was very short, we felt the hardships faced by the officers and soldiers on the island. When we talked to them and shared our thoughts, the soldiers were a little shy at first, but then they became more confident in sharing their hopes and future aspirations, stories about life on the island, family circumstances, etc.”
One student from Ninh Hoa said: "My family is struggling, and we're short-staffed, so after completing my military service, I'll go back to learn a trade to help my family and take care of my parents." Another student from Nghe An expressed: "After being discharged from the army, I will choose a suitable trade to help my family and become an exemplary citizen in my locality."

When asked about his future, Sergeant Pham Quang Long, a soldier stationed on Song Tu Tay Island, immediately replied: “I will be determined to study hard to pass the entrance exam for the Political Officer School. After graduation, I hope to work in the Navy so I can return to work and contribute on the islands.” Hearing Comrade Long say this, we were deeply impressed. Comrade Lan couldn't hide her emotions; her voice choked up: “Keep going, son. I believe you will achieve your dreams as long as you always strive and work hard.”

On Son Ca Island, as the delegation from the Naval Academy was disembarking from the boat onto the island, we could see the officers and soldiers preparing to welcome us from afar. When the motorboat docked at the harbor, the officers and soldiers, with their tanned faces, greeted us with bright smiles, as if welcoming close relatives visiting the island.
Upon taking their first steps on Son Ca Island, every officer and trainee in the delegation was moved and surprised by the island's well-maintained and orderly appearance. During our visit, we met and chatted with Sergeant Do Minh Tuan, from Vinh Long province. He confided: “Before enlisting, I graduated from the College of Industry and Trade in Ho Chi Minh City. My time serving on the island gave me many memories. It was filled with the love and camaraderie of my comrades. Now, I feel the longing for the island and my comrades upon my discharge. Later, when I return to my hometown, I will continue the work I learned to help my family and contribute to building a stronger and more prosperous homeland.”

It was time for us to say goodbye to the officers and soldiers on the islands we had visited. Every officer and student in the Naval Academy delegation was moved by the words of advice, the handshakes, the hugs, the affectionate glances, and each of us believed that the dreams of the soldiers on those remote islands would come true. As we left the port, the officers and soldiers on the islands continued their duty day and night to firmly protect the sovereignty of our nation's seas and islands.
