Currently, the province has 231 preschools, of which 117 meet national standards, with over 45,000 children. In the 2025-2026 school year, preschool education will implement the theme "Promoting digital technology - strengthening STEM education in preschools".
Digitizing teaching and management activities.
Digital transformation in preschool education is a comprehensive process, beginning with a change in mindset and direction among administrators, followed by proactive innovation and the adoption of technology in the pedagogical skills of the teaching staff.

Ms. Vu Thi Thai, Principal of Dinh Lap I Kindergarten in Dinh Lap commune, shared: Currently, the school has implemented digital signatures for two types of electronic documents to replace paper documents, applying digital signatures to the approval of educational plans and lesson plans to optimize professional management capacity in the digital environment. To enhance transparency and interaction, the school continues to deploy QR codes to help parents access information about enrollment, learn about educational plans, and the activities of nurturing, caring for, and educating children at the school.
Following the directives of the Department of Education and Training, 100% of preschools in the area are actively implementing the development of a shared digital learning resource library. Teachers and parents can access this digital resource library with videos , reference lessons, teaching activities for children, and online materials to collaborate in caring for and educating children at home, adapting to the specific circumstances of each family.
Simultaneously, AI is becoming a powerful tool to support teachers in designing lesson plans, creating games, and assessing children's developmental progress. Instead of traditional methods, many teachers have created interactive digital scenarios, such as videos of stories and poems incorporating animations and appropriate voice recordings. Through these, children directly participate in learning, playing, answering questions, and recognizing sounds and images. This approach helps children learn through play and play through learning, contributing to a change in their learning mindset, stimulating initiative, and developing quick reflexes.
Fostering scientific thinking from an early age.
STEM is not a standalone subject but rather an interdisciplinary, integrated educational model, making it suitable for the integrated educational approach across developmental fields in the preschool education curriculum. Applying this model helps preschool teachers broaden children's understanding of the nature of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in real-life situations, as well as the value of literature and art through practical examples from daily life.

Ms. Vi Thi Cham, Principal of Dong Banh Kindergarten, said: "The school regularly organizes a school-wide STEM festival, attracting active participation from parents. Through flexibility and creativity, the teaching staff has seamlessly integrated STEM elements into the educational program, helping preschool children become familiar with the digital environment naturally and achieving high practical effectiveness."
Every year, preschools organize school-level STEM festivals to select outstanding students to participate in cluster-level and provincial-level STEM festivals.
At the Provincial STEM Festival for preschools in the 2025-2026 school year, teachers and students from preschools across the province showcased impressive abilities in demonstrating, presenting, and designing practical STEM products.
At the booth of the preschool teams from Khanh Khe commune, Ms. La Thi Huong Giang from Binh Trung Preschool introduced: "With the desire to create STEM products for children that embody the spirit of 'Learning through play – Playing through learning – Unleashing creativity,' we have harmoniously combined science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to create products such as a multi-functional robot; a smart garbage collection system; and a 'Khanh Khe innovating' model. These products help children develop comprehensively in terms of cognitive abilities, language, and life skills, while also contributing to the formation of scientific thinking, creativity, and an initial introduction to technical and technological elements in STEM education."
STEM products are not just display models, but tools that help children explore fundamental scientific principles. The application of technology not only ensures the scientific validity of STEM products but also creates direct interaction, making it easy for preschool children to manipulate and explore. This allows children to adapt to a technological environment from the youngest age group. This contributes to the development of scientific thinking, problem-solving skills, and especially teamwork skills – key elements in the new Early Childhood Education Program to prepare them for first grade.
Ms. Nguyen Ngoc, Deputy Head of the Primary and Preschool Education Department of the Department of Education and Training, said: "In the past period, the Department of Education and Training has thoroughly implemented policies from the Ministry of Education and Training, closely linked to the specific practical characteristics of the locality, advising on the issuance of guiding documents suitable to the socio-economic conditions of the mountainous province, helping educational institutions have clear orientations to confidently implement the task of promoting digital transformation and STEM education, absolutely without putting pressure on or overloading children and teachers."
A thorough review of the current state of facilities and teaching staff was conducted to accurately assess the capacity for organizing STEM activities at each unit. In particular, the coordination between the Department of Education and Training and the People's Committees of communes and wards created a combined resource pool to establish model units. From these units, early childhood education institutions have shared experiences and replicated models best suited to local conditions.
In the coming period, the Department of Education and Training will continue to focus on promoting the application of information technology in the management and organization of activities related to nurturing, caring for, and educating children, thereby contributing to "cultivating" digital citizens right from the preschool level.
